I like SPB 3.1 its slick, seems much smoother than TF3d at times.

Yeah, I started reading up on flashing about 3 days before I got my device. I got couldn't resist and started flashing it the first night I had it. You're worried the first time, but really, its very easy. And you dont have to unlock it anymore after that. I probably flash 3-4 times a week while things are being ironed out in these 6.5 releases.

Its really nothing to worry about OP, and if there's something you dont understand there's a whole community here that can clarify points for you :)
