+1 on that one because of that and another because the seller does not allow you to return the phone in case they (carriers) would not activate the phone for you ... why take the risk bro ...

VZW never did activate Sprint phones. *228 option 3 was simply not set to fail activation for phones not in the DMD. That hole was plugged as soon as they were aware of it and able to do something about it. It is possible to get a Sprint TP activated but you have to get a tech that knows how to do it ;)

That phone SCREAMS "bad ESN, stolen phone"

Hi, I totally agree. I take a very skeptical look at any CDMA phone that claims to be unlocked from the factory, meaning that its ESN has never been assigned to any carrier's data base. Since Sprint and Verizon both sell Touch Diamond, who really would take such a chance? I noticed the bid was up to $415, how much is the no contract price anyway?

Re: Do you think this would work?

No contract price is 579 on Sprint, but they regularly go for $350 on ebay from reputable sellers. Simple fact is, there is no "unlocked" CMDA device, since eachmajor CDMA carrier in the US requires the ESN to be on record for them to activate it. Basically, this phone was probably stolen from the docks or the truck, before it made it's way to Sprint's inventory.

Edit: And the bid isn't UP to $419, it has 0 bids, he started it at that price, which is laughable.

Are you in or out of contract with Verizon right now?

I just saw that Alltel has the Touch Pro ordered online for only $79.99 after
$420.00 online instant rebate, and a $100.00 mail-in rebate.

If you were out of contract(and willing to sign another one) you could get a
Touch Pro from Alltel for $79.99....after all, they technically are Verizon now anyways.

While Alltel and VZW are merged on paper, Alltel devices are not loadd into VZWs database. I have an Alltel TP on VZW, and I had to get it loaded before I could activate it. Plus, to get that price you are signing a contract with Alltel which is still, for the time being, operating as a seperate company. You won't be able to get it without opening a new line then, effectively, cancelling that line (with ETF) to activate it on your VZW line once you get it loaded (if you can find someone that can do it). I don't see this approach being any easier.
