Keyboard not working please HELP!!!
 

HI i have a sprint touch pro which the phones flip out keyboard worked fine and now i unlocked the phone and flashed the mighty rom 5 and now my keyboard is not working? :/ please help me fix this problem i did a hard reset and nothing :/

yea it did one automatically and i did another just to be safe but maybe i did hard reset wrong i went to setting clear storage? :/

that's not the way i do it, but that will still work.

just reflash MR5 again and you should be fine. If it does it again, soft reset. If you get tired of soft resetting, flash to another 6.1 ROM like MightyMike 4.16.

I'm totally guessing, but i'm thinking the hardware keyboard is a 6.5 issue. It has been talked about in the MR5 thread, so your problem has been noted.

Interesting. I'm flashing my ROM in a few minutes because my Keyboard has just stopped working today. I can hard reset and it will work for a few words, then stop responding. Occasionally, I can close the phone, open it back up and wait, it will fill in what I'd typed, but then freeze up again. Sprint Tech Support suggested taking it in to a store tomorrow, but I figured I'd give it a shot at flashing the ROM first.

a lot of the newer phones have keyboard issues. U press a key and it repeatssssssssss itsssssseeeeeeeelllllllf like so, before it flat out stops working. Not a rom issue its a hardware issue.


Sprint(thru Asurion) will send u a Brand New phone free of charge, not sure if u need the Total Protection Policy or not, I have it tho. i just activated my 4th replacement from Sprint, and all four times they've sent brand new phones. 3 of the 4 had the keyboard issue :(

But hey, I got enough Headphones, Hip Cases, and chargers to last a lifetime.

How did you do your replacement? did you call it in or go to the sprint store?

I had the same issue... Worked fine until I flashed to MR5.... I then tried to use 4.16, and stock sprint.... The issue did not go away.... I just got the phone replaced. I went to the store... they had their techs look at it... and they sent me a NIB Pro ....To be on the safe side I'm sticking with 4.16 for now (until all the bugs in MR5 are fixed)

As I stated above, I called in the issue first on my stock, unlocked phone. After troubleshooting a bit, she said it's time to take it to a service center. I flashed the Mighty ROM 5 just to see what it's all about. Of course, the keyboard stopped working again yesterday so I flashed the stock ROM back to the phone last night. Again, the keyboard seemed well and good last night, but when using it at work, the keyboard quit on my second site. So I just stopped in at a service center after work, they looked at it and actually found the cable was dirty and on in strait somehow... But put it back together, we thought it was good then he asked me to try some notes and sure enough, the keyboard quit on me again. He promptly began ordering a new phone for me so I should have it tomorrow or Monday.

I did ask if this is a warranty or TEP issue and was assured that it is a warranty deal, so no $100 BS.

Just replaced my second TP because of a dead keyboard.... Can't say it's the ROM's for sure but can say for sure, flashing back to stock didn't do a thing.

I can tell you all right now that I have the exact same issues with my TouchPro as listed above regarding the keyboard, and this is the first phone that I haven't had to enhance in any way. So if your having similar issues (may or may not work, then doesn't), most likely it is that hardware. I'm taking mine in VERY soon, really punctuates how much I need that keyboard working.

Took phone into Sprint and they fixed my keyboard which had completely failed. Not sure what they did but it seems to be working fine now after less than 30 minutes spent with the tech. Of Course I flashed back to the Sprint Stock before returning and Flash backed to MR5 when I got it back. I am expecting it to stop again at some point, so we'll see, it has been fine for the last few hours. Its definitely a hardware issue that everyone seems to be having a problem with.

I have Verizon and having the same issue. I replaced my TP about 2 weeks ago and the new one has been working fine. I have flashed a few ROMS 6.5 then 6.1 etc... the ROM doesnt seem to change the problem...

Thing is.... It feels like a software bug... I would think it would either be working or not working if it were hardware. Any of the wizards care to chime in on this?

I have had lots of bad keyboards, they always just replace it. Just go to sprint store and they should take care of it.
