Designing the best car audio system for the TP
Let's design the best car audio system featuring the HTC Touch Pro as the centerpiece.
In addition to audio, we will install an LCD screen to take advantage of the TP's Tv-Out feature. Which will have two main benefits A) movies B) Google Maps GPS With this concept in mind, I'm just getting started and would like to figure out a couple things including: - what kind of LCD display would work best ? Remember it needs to have a composite input for the TP and should be a reasonable size that it can be mounted on the dash somewhere - what kind of deck would you buy ? Should have bluetooth in case you want to connect wirelessly, but certainly the AUX port is a must. In addition, perhaps the deck can also connect to the LCD display or include an LCD display of it's own to kill 2 birds with one stone. Furthermore, if it connects to the LCD display it might as well have DVD playback. Anyway - that's the idea, and I think this might also interest a lot of other TP users who are wanting to build the best car audio/display system featuring the Touch Pro. Would like your feedback & ideas. |

I'm definitely interested.

Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
I think there is a thread around here somewhere about how people use their Touch Pros, and I know a few people have it going with some nice audio set ups...Sorry I am too lazy to search for it though.

Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
Needs divx playback. A dvd player without divx is useless! Haha. Also why not a micro sd reader for those with extra cards?

Check out my sig. I have a TP-Pro hooked up with my Range Rover Sport's OEM Nav screen.Works just fine with GPS and google maps

Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
Could just go with an Azentek Dual Din Car PC. You would be able to pair the TP to it and use it's navi on the Azentek's screen.

Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
I use an Eclipse double din NAV/DVD head unit with both XM & Sirius/bluetooth/aux in etc etc etc, hooked to four Infinity sep component speakers & two seperate sub systems (multi AMP).
When I plug my Touchpro into my Proclip bracket, it charges the phone & automatically hooks the video/audio out to the 7" screen so I can watch 200 cable TV channels there from my Slingbox or watch ripped DVD movies from my 16 gig card...... ~John |

Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
I'd like to do the same thing. Is it possible to use a touchscreen monitor to control the device? I've been thinking of doing a carputer or something like just using the TP but i'd be awesome if i could incorporate a touch monitor so I could have my phone in my center and out of the way

Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
Sorry if it was mentioned in an earlier post, I didn't read any of it...
I have a 93 Volkswagen Corrado and I actually use my TP all the time for music in it since the FM receiver sucks at receiving most signals... I currently just run an FM transmitter and go that way... However, I will be upgrading my sound system in the not too far distant future and will be getting a Boss headunit with Blutooth and than pair that with a car charger... Since ya know, our batts suck and swapping batteries w/o pulling over is kinda dangerous. Sooo with that said, I was wondering if anyone could perhaps make a program that would shut off your bluetooth transmission from the TP when you are receiving a call and than reconnect once you get off the phone? I know it sounds weird lol... But that's the idea I had. |
Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
my current setup:
- JL Audio 10" w7 - JL Audio Clean Sweep - JL Audio 500/1 Amp - JL Audio 300/4 Amp - JL Audio Speakers (i forget the type) - 30 gb ipod video/ tp 16gb Sound Quality is great :) |
Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
I have no clue what azentek or whatever is and I just stumbled across this but look into a Liliput either screen or all-in-one carputer..They're not out $2500 usually 200-500..pair that with a equalizer..Connect those to to an amplifier..Connect that to 4 JL, Alpine or Pioneer speakers..
And the optional subs..go with kicker, JL, or MTX The liliputs are usually touchscreen and have no problems with bluetooth or syncing our HTCs..Again they are computers so tethering and all would work just like we were at home |

Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
I have a Kenwood DDX-6019 and my Touch Pro works great with it. Can use it for GPS, movies, Youtube, Internet, or streaming music.
I have a long TV-Out cable hooked to one of the audio/video inputs on the head unit, and then the cable runs behind the dash and into the glove box. Whenever I want to hook up the Touch Pro, just open the glove box, pull the cable out and hook it up. |

IMHO, you can get as many or more features at a much cheaper price with a system like mine or a few of the others listed here (& it's easier for most peoiple to install). There is not ONE SINGLE feature that I can think of that a carputer will do that my setup + my TP with unlimited data won't do. ~John |
Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
does anyone know where I can get a cheap monitor that takes composite inputs? I figure I'll just route the audio to my regular cd player and put the video on the bigger screen. That or find a portable dvd player that has composite inputs and do the same.

Re: Designing the best car audio system for the TP
Mine is hooked up in my car. I want to know if you can charge the phone and hook up the tv out at the same time.
