Touch Pro - Anyone know the max number of flashes before the memory dies?
 

Just wondering how many flashes the memory can take, as I flash 2-3 times a week, and did have to do a warranty replacement of my last Touch Pro due to memory issues. (It just started leaking data. I would have to hard reset once a day just to maintain a useable phone)

I don't even flash that often (cause I'm lazy for setting it back up) and mine phones still die :-( - so far this one is good but I'm waiting for it 2 give out

oh no i did the math on how often i flash mine, and i have over a year, guess i need to stop flashing it hourly,

ok im not that bad, every couple of days i seem to though so i will be good for 50 years :)

Thanks for all the input, sounds like flashing is not the reason my TP died this last time :)
Now if it will just remain free from all the other ways to fail, I'll be set for awhile.

not completely true,

it turns out that the user filespace (FAT32) lives in flash too, so the lifespan can actually be much shorter if you have something that keeps writing to flash (/my documents), for example, over and over again...

You think maybe using sd cards more for storage would help?

Also since it's not like HDDs where data gets written according better access time, do you think that like if I flashed several roms would they land in the same spot on flash every time? Would those sectors get worn more than the others?

I really doubt you have that much to worry about. IIRC the flash memory has some kind of built-in wear leveling and bad block marking, and I think there was a period of time where I flashed my Titan about 50+ times a day with no ill effect.

Just my 2 cents here, I flashed my original TP only twice before it started "leaking data". I've flashed the replacement one about 10 times so far and it's still working fine. We must have had defective units to begin with.

50+ times thats crazy u must have just sat at the cpu all day...thats true commitment

Commitment like no other, No2's ROMs on the Mogul/Titan were king! He came in the clutch before all the MightyMikes and Juggalos and Juggs ect of the Touch Pro world =). Now he's making apps that do things you never thought you'd see (Dynamic clock control). Check his blog out in his sig.
