Get a program called diamond tweak from xda-developers.com. It works on the TP, from there you can turn off Phone as modem and Sprint connections.

If you totally block data you will not be able to send/receive MMS (picture messages)

also on your touch pro if you disable the net and JUST use wi-fi lets say for instant messaging you STILL get charged for it...

specifically the IM program tells you the first time you fire it up after activation that using it on just wi-fi will incur data charges...this is confirmed because i had a diamond customer who thought he'd outsmart the system and ended up getting 50 bucks in data charges though he disabled his data profile...

...

I never knew that (I don't use an IM program in my phone).

When I first got my old VZ xv6800, I went for 3-4 months with no data package & used WiFi for everything.

I tried a total data block & then found out I couldn't send/receive MMS which I do use occasionally. I had VZ remove the data block & then disabled the phone from dialing #777 so I wouldn't incur unwanted data charges (MMS needs data, but there is no charge for using it)
