gmail deleting items!
 

I just recently came from a Mogul to the Touch Pro. I set up my gmail account to get emails as a regular mailbox, so that i can get emails in both my regular gmail inbox, and the inbox on my cellphone.

the problem is, when i delete an email on my phone, it also deletes in my regular gmail inbox. this never used to happen on my Mogul. When i go into the 'advanced settings' in 'email setup' on my phone, i have two options when it comes to deleted mail :

When deleting messages i can either:
1. Delete them from server
2. move them to server trash

now, i don't want to do either of these. before on my Mogul, i always had the option to "keep a copy on the server", but i don't seem to be able to do that now. Does anyone know what i need to do so that when i delete a message on my phone it doesn't delete from the gmail server?

i think i figured out the problem. looks like when it pulls Gmail settings automatically, it pulls it as an IMAP account instead of a POP3 account. i had to play with it a little, but it seems to be working now. i believe this is the same solution they came to in the thread you referenced.
