Bandwidth speed test with sprint EVDO(post yours). Internet speed

Today i got interested how fast my sprint evdo connection really is(i am using wunderradio daily on commute and pocket live tv about once a week).

After searching this forum i could not find much info on it so i searched google for bandwidth test meter. My favorite sites for testing home are
1) http://www.speedtest.net/
2) http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

unfotunatly both of them require flash 8 and neither opera nor PIE does not seem to support it for me. I found this that worked:

www.dslreports.com/mspeed - i got dissapointing 412kbit/sec (on 1mb test file), after connecting to home WIFI i cannot test with that site since it tells me "unstable/too fast a result-choose larger file" but biggest file is 1mb:)

I am using rstg_Raph_Rho_v2.R1c.02 ROM (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=62786).

Are there any tweaks/tricks to speed this up, the phone at the time of testing was showing EV (not 1x)

Found this fix - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49652 but it seems thats its for WIFI only.

What are your results? Dont forget to post the ROM you using.
Anyone have different websites/ways to test the speed on t pro?

found another site: http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-speed-test/ on that one i get 1020Kbps while on WIFI and 272Kbps on EVDO

After applying tweak(http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49652) and softreset i get 370.9 Kbps(EVDO) and 2040 Kbps(fix really works!)

Or you can add the internet tethering cab and connect it to a laptop and test the speed using the laptop. That's what I did, you can see my speeds in my signature below. Another route is www.mobilespeedtest.com.

Using PIE6 i got the results in my sig (Sprint results, not the Optonline one). There seems to be a huge amount of latency on that test, which may be related to using the newest (and possibly buggy) version of Pocket Internet Explorer.

I un the test on dslreprts.com and i get a bunch of jeberish.... I run it under mobilespeedtest.net, I get a please wait, transferring 512KB, but it just stays on that screen. None of these are working.

Running mightyROM 4.16 and Sprint 1.11 radio. I have seen huge difference in speed, want to see it on a test though...

I have used this for years you have to use the Simple Moble Speed Test and sometimes if you speed is to fast it will ask you to use a larger file and will give you a choose of files http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1

Got it to work under IE not Opera.. Love Opera and hate it....

Question, the cab for tweaking wi-fi connection, is that gonna make my EVDO speed faster aswell?

Here's a site i use for mobile speed tests. What's nice about this one, is that is lets you test your upload speed also. http://performance.toast.net/ I've used it with both pie, iris 1.16, and opera 8.65 on my Touch Pro. Lots of options, like being able to choose the file to upload, and which server you'd like to use, etc..

Looks like its for WIFI only i did few more tests and EVDO stayed about the same while WIFI was consistantly faster. Wonder if there is a fix like that for EVDO

I tried that site - looked very nice just what i needed i thought, so i tested it with my home machine. Chose Host Rocket as a server(one of 2 NY hosts closest to me) and blue angels(biggest), ran 3 times and got
1) 4123
2) 3145
3) 5209
( i am on 8mbit line)
Does not seem to be quite reliable not sure why

Hmmm, interesting. I gotta admit, i've never tried it on my desktop/laptop. Only have used it on my mobile devices, mogul and now Touch Pro. The results i've gotten have always been comparable to being teathered. Guess i always liked the upload test feature. Hard to come by for mobile testing.

On mobilespeedtest.com I get random speeds when using any file smaller than 1 meg. the 3 meg option is broken. my speeds using the 1 meg file are odd to say the least.

I'm at 1.83Mbps and 2.06Mbps on mobilespeedtest.com and 1013Kbps on the other site ... pretty good for EVDO if it is reliable ... all test run with 1 MB files ...

for the best results on mobile speed test, make sure you guys use IE. for some reason with opera you never get the correct results or it doesn't even finish.

Re: Bandwidth speed test with sprint EVDO(post yours). Internet speed

I get 30-80 on 1xrtt in the Techno wilderness in the Texas Panhandle and as far south as Abilene, Tx. Customer service has called me twice in the last month asking how I feel about Sprint service. The reps don't know crap about internet service but will not believe that we do not have EVDO in a town of 200,000 people. Alltel and Att both have 3g speeds but we cannot roam on Alltel. The last rep said we should have 3 or 4g speeds soon. I will believe that Texas Tech will win a national championship in ice hockey before Sprint is competitive in service here.

I tested this on several of the TOP cooked ROM's, but to my surprised, this works like a charm, {Beyond Light Speed, Joking But True, LOL} it's faster on the stock ROM, why....](*,)

what are the tweaks everyone is using to speed up their connections? I am still getting around .50mb and i tried with PIE and same when tethering with WMWifiRouter or directly ICS(USB). Wishing i could get to at least 1mb:(

Re: Bandwidth speed test with sprint EVDO(post yours). Internet speed

Ok, in my sig line, clearly first one is my Comcast Cable broadband, over WiFi to a Vista laptop.

Second is my Touch Pro, running SsS 6.5 ROM w/ IE8, 1.11.00F Sprint radio (Definately faster than the Telus radio), and PRL 60750, PRI 1.47_003. Still not seeing speeds as high as what most of you get. (Over 3000 or more on mobilespeedtest.com) 2571 is the best I've gotten, and couldn't hit it till I switched back to a Sprint radio from the Telus radio.

This one here ->http://www.mobilespeedtest.com/results/1121087516.jpg is Touch Pro over Wifi on my Comcast connection.

Would like to know what radio / PRL / PRI combos are being used by the people that are seeing the mid 3s or higher. Can the speed freak peeps post thier combos along with thier speeds?

It'll tether at whatever your data cxn has available. 1x, EVDO, whatever is available!

Not even Sprint's 4G gets 33 Mbps down. Obviously just that the browser updated from cache giving a higher speed. Once got one that said over 2700 Mbps. lol
