I miss my buttons.. :(
I came to the TouchPro(Fuze) from a 8525 and gave it to my wife.. Every now and then I have to show her how to do something on it, and I hate to say I miss the hardware buttons.. Although it wasn't as sexy as the myphone, it sure as heck was a lot more functional.. With the blinking lights you could see if you missed a call or a text message without turning anything on.. Push the power button and you are one button away from internet, messages, camera, phone, or the start menu.. Plus the scroll/click wheel was great for one-hand navigation..
The Fuze is much more like the myphone, where you have to hold it with one hand while 'touch'ing for navigation with the other.. Plus, just like the myphone, it's usually: power button, slide, swipe, swipe, press, swipe, press, slide, slide, and then you are finally at your app.. I digress.. :???: -Matthew |

I feel ya bro, I keep my inactive mogul @ my desk just to pickup and press buttons sometimes. :)

I love the TP, but I do empathize. What's worse yet is that the next gen phones (TP2 et all) won't even have a hardware d-pad. At least for me, it might keep me with the TP1 since I do like to play an occasional game on my phone which usually requires a hardware d-pad minimally.

Hopefully someday the people working on the key remapping will succeed. Even though I'll miss the e-mail and internet keys, having a true Windows and OK button would go a long way :) (I know no2chem mentioned something about this once some time ago, so am hopeful. Been following the other threads on it as well) |

What's so wrong with TF3D? I never even use the swipe functions, I just use the slider to navigate what I need. Granted it's not as good as having dedicated buttons, but it's a lot easier than having to navigate through the start menu or programs folder, at least for me. It's always nice to have weather and texts on the home screen. I've never found TF3D to be more of a hassle than an asset.

TF3D certainly looks nice but it takes too many steps to actually run all the programs on your device. It also slows your device down quite a bit. The amount of files it installs on your PPC is just staggering. Just open up the Windows folder with File Explorer and you'll see what I mean. Of course personal preference it really the name of the game... so those who like it, more power to you... but I do find it a bit humorous when people complain about trying to get rid of all the bloatware on their device to make it "clean", "fast" and "stable" but keep the biggest bloatware of them all - TF3D. In terms of size, it literally DWARFS any program on the Touch Pro. It also is the cause of alot of incompatibilities (stability). |

I may try Mobile Shell 3.0 but can't really find info about what's changed from the previous versions or even screen shots..... |

I wish someone would come out with a hardware key mode that split the keys up on the TP like this (see illustration below). I can't tell you how many times I'll hit the top corner of the key, but it ends up executing the function for the bottom part of the key (ie hit home and instead it opens up the calling screen).
Not everyone wants an iPhone clone :angry7:. Functioning keys that are clearly defined are a GOOD THING! http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/2903/buttonsu.jpg |

I miss my buttons on the 6800, but the button I think I miss the most was the camera button (if someone could find a way to map one of the other buttons to the camera, that would help.) When I broke my 6800's touchscreen, I was still able to use almost every funtion of the phone (save for the internet). I will be up **** creek if I break my Touch Pro screen.

Though I do miss a button on the side of it where it's easier to snap pics. Speaking of the camera, I don't like how long it takes from when you press the button to take a pic to when the picture is actually taken..... |
Re: I miss my buttons.. :(
ae button is a must on these phones. also for those that miss the wifi switch, the new version of quickmenu has wifi controls.
there are new version of the camera app floating around that are fairly snappy (pun intended...) juicy's roms have it built in. |

Deffinately not ideal for the quick snapping of a pic that (I feel) made camera phones so popular. "Hey look at that funny thing on the side of the road....wich I had a camera...wait my phone." whip it out, snap, gotta pic.... |

My Wife has an old Samsung flip phone (it's at least two years old) that is simple to take a quick snapshot with (she uses it all the time). It is 1.3 megapixel, there is almost no shutter lag at all & the pics are just fine considering it's a camera phone. The pics are slightly better quality from the TP, but who cares?? (If I want super quality, I have a Canon D-SLR I can use) It takes so damn long to focus with the TP that I don't even bother with it most of the tiime. There is NO WAY my 8 year old can hold still long enough (by the time it focuses she is making fun of it.....) ~John |

Re: I miss my buttons.. :(
Hey guys, I have the Vogue but am looking at possibly getting the Touch Pro. Like many of you, I have no interest at all in TF3D. (I've installed custom roms on my Vogue which have TF2D, and functionally it just isn't as good as good today screen plugins like Pocket Plus)
So I played with a TP in a Sprint store today, and noticed the big "home" and "back" buttons. These seem designed around TF3D. For those of you who have disabled TF3D, are these buttons now useless? Can you remap them to be "start" and "close" buttons instead? Thanks for any info! |

I'm fairly certain they can be remaped with a reg-edit although I don't know exactly what the reg-edit is. |
