Restoring a sprite backup issues

Alright, I'm just wondering if I'm doing this wrong. The first thing I did on my phone before installing any 3rd party cabs was installing Sprite backup software and making a backup of my phone. So I did this and then tested the restore, seemed to work just as expected.

I then started installing various TF3D modification cabs on the system just to see what they would look like because I just assumed a simple restore would put me back to where I was. Well I tried restoring with Merge level 3 and "replace" for the files. So why do I still have these same tweaks on my system if the restore was supposedly suppose to overwrite these?

Should I select the option "Delete All Files" and then try the same restore? Should I do a hard reset and then do the restore? Any input from those who have sprite would be greatly appreciated.

O and I apologize if this is the wrong place for this thread (like if I should be contacting sprite's support directly or something like that). Thanks all!

I use Delete All Files and Replace Registry. Even then, I end up with orphan shortcuts in the Programs menu. And of course, if restoring to a new device, Update PRL and Update Profile give error 407.

Doing a hard reset before any restore is ALWAYS a good idea.

I usually just reflash my ROM instead, but it's really the same thing. I have never had good luck using that merge level three option. I know it's not what they tell you to do, but I realized a long time ago that if I always used Merge level one it works perfectly.

I have done probably 50 restores using merge one & never had one fail yet. I have retored a BU made on one TouchPro to a DIFFERENT TP running an entirely different ROM (hard to find a tougher test than that) & using merge one even that worked perfectly............

Actually, there is ONE THING that doesn't restore correctly & that is the contacts in my TF3D people tab. Those never restore for some reason (that tab always comes up blank after the restore) & I have to add them back in everytime.

That's no big deal to me as I never put more than a half dozen of my most used contacts in there anyway.

By the way, are you using the latest version of Sprite??

The latest version is a LOT better than some of the earlier versions.....

I will probably try one more restore with "Delete all files selected". Yes, i am using the latest version of sprite as I just bought it 2 days ago :). I find it odd that if I'm doing a full backup, that it does not do a 1:1 restore. Isn't that why I bought this software? lol

I agree. Try hard resetting & then do a merge one restore leaving all the boxes checked.

I would be very surprised if that doesn't work just fine.
