i can help with reviews. i dont do anything major with roms, im a student so i test the basics (web, sms, pic mail, calls, etc.) basic functionality. i lost my cpu for the week, so flashing this week is a lil complicated, but next week i can def help out.

also, some of the roms have been updated, like RSTG's and star rom, those are the two i know off the top of my head. just a heads up...

very nice compilation of ROMs

i will say you wont find anything that really stands out as far as amazing goes.... the sole purpose of my kitchens are to give the end user a pretty stable platform to build their own amazing roms from.... i've got to say i am completely stunned at how many chefs are using my kitchens to build their roms.... i'm truely honored by that

if you want to review a rom of mine that will leave you stunned i'd suggest my 21109 clean rom... it's smokin fast and very very lightweight but is very stable aswell also UC is included so the end user can taylor it to their exact needs... my needs are clean so it suites me perfectly

I believe that most Chefs want to keep it basic and stable to leave it to te user to customize the rom to their preference.

I really like this thread.

Ill test it soon! I dont give poor reviews if the rom is clean/bare... I test for speed and usability... The only add on i enjoy a lot is when TF3D has sweet addons, like in fayfays rom...

Divxrippimps Juggalo Rom

rom is very fast and smooth
txt in messaging doent keep up well, lag is pretty heavy sometimes
tf3d looks nice, and works well
as with others its missing the large city database
weather tab is only todays weather... no calendar tab :(
TF3D background is really nice
title bar icons look really good
on fayfays rom (i think) the TF3D settings tab had a setting for turning off unwanted tabs, it was super nice... no other ones so far have had that...

youtube player plays video like crap, lots of tearing and skipping

i hate enlarge startmenu and enlarge notifications, its unessesary, but i have my thumb nail cut as a stylus so maybe im different...

opera is very fast and scrolls well... flash doesnt seem to work...

camera is super fast, returns from taking a picture to a usable camera very
quick...

This rom is very nice, very stable, always quick... I had no issues using it, but i still miss all the TF3D stuff from FayFays rom...

DivxRipPimps Juicy6 Rom Review

so far this ROM is AMAZING
the on screen keyboard is so nice, way better than stock, would make me re-think installing touchpal as i normally do...

ROM is soooo fast, its fayfays ROM plus some!
it has the touch friendly menus, they are so fast and smooth...
touch scrolling works so perfect and so smooth...
youtube plays 100% perfect!

this ROM is already my fav so far, its pretty quick and smooth and has all the TF3D things i like...

The only things i wish is that the HTC task manager app could have the drop down list on any screen and that the skins for contacts and messaging that are available through this version of touch flo, were accessible from everywhere and not just the home screen...

browser could load digg.com properly and doesnt seem to have flash installed... youtube wont load videos in browser... ill test some more...

the touch friendly menus txt is smaller than other roms and its better because more menu items fit on the screen at once

the text over the whole rom keeps up, and there is no lag even with t9 on... its pretty awesome!

for some reason the TF3D is currently restarting every time i try to open a txt with it... im sure a soft reset will fix it, but its odd.. it was caused by a specific persons message thread, it went away after i deleted it...

when you send a message in the TF3D messaging app it sends, but when it puts your message in the thread it puts in a spot with your friends pic and no txt as your message... some sorta glitch...

also an annoying thing i noticed on both fayfays rom and this one, when the TF3D messaging app is open and you open the physical keyboard, when it rotates the txt doesn't default to the input box, so if you start typing it brings up the call log and starts searching in it, its pretty annoying...

TF3D restarting upon opening a message is still happening, its really annoying... also the rom has built in accelerometer rotate built in... sometimes when you open the keyboard and the phone is tilted wrong it will change to portrait and wont change back, very very annoying... the rotate function in general in annoying... is there a setting for this?

rom is having a lot of weird issues now, internet sharing seems to freeze a lot... ill test some more...
must have been network issues, didnt happen again, and i used it for 4 more hours...

the htx x button app acts weird when you open the today screen drop down and click an x next to an app it just auto selects the memory button and opens that instead of closing the app you wanted to...

Sorry, been busy/lazy recently... ill start back up today...

divxrippimp 04-15-2009 09:10 AM

DivxRipPimps Merdin Rom Review

rom is loaded with extras, i took a lot of screen shots...
the rom is very very fast and stable, no freezing issues and iv been using it for 4 days (i was to busy to switch recently)...

tf3d has the same messaging issue/bug/(its possible its not broken and just works this way, either way its dumb) where it searches the call logs if you dont click in the text area after opening the keyboard, which is really+really+really annoying...

This rom also has the read message issue... When you open a thread with multiple unread messages, if you dont scroll down over ALL the unread messages, even if they are visible on the screen it wont mark them as read and you will have to reopen the thread and select over those messages... its pretty annoying...

the tf3d and dialer look awesome, the red theme is really good...

it has the clock issue where its behind an hour no matter what i do... i set it prob 10 times a day and it always sets back...

in my opinion using it over the 4 days, the battery life IS AWFUL... i mean pretty bad... but i still love the rom

the toolbar icons are really nice, and everything shows up correctly and is skinned properly

the touch friendly menus are sized correctly and are tinted red, they are nice to use, the text is a little large only allowing a few options on the screen at a time...

camera is very fast, returns from a save fast and the video recording works as well as iv ever gotten it to work with tweaks and such (but the video recording on this device is still pathetic)

comes with voice commander and MSVC... both work perfect, i like voice commander better, but MSVC is faster and more convenient to use...

gps locks quick
built in touch vibrate response is nice
lots of built in tweaking apps
has icontacts built in as the contacts app, dunno if i like it, but i used to hate it and its waaaay better now...

youtube plays perfect and buffers fast

opera renders quick and scrolls and zooms well...

call recorder works when on speakerphone...

it has so many apps installed im not going to list them, as im sure he does, and they can also be seen in my screenshots...

touchflo scrolling works smoothly in all places i have tried it, its very fluid...

the txt in the normal messaging app does not keep up, its 3-6 words behind at all times, even with t9 turned off...

the t9 is pretty fast in other apps tho, its less than a word behind most times...

I love the notepad app that is on this rom, for some reason I like quick no frills txt editing apps... mostly because the notes app in windows mobile suuuuuucks, and word is annoying to use for quick stuff and pretty slow to open normally...

DivxRipPimp's Mighty Rom Review

Mighty rom doesnt need its own review as it doesnt have any extra apps installed... Its like running stock except its EXTREMELY fast and EXTREMELY stable... This rom is reccomended for anyone who wants something similar to stock but not so sucky... I had no issues at all running this rom, which is most likely why its so popular. The rom has pretty much NO extras included, im sure there are some tweaks and stuff to make it run better, but application wise, there is nothing added.

This rom is reccomended!

you might have some luck with a verizon specific rom. i know Scroslers roms are kinda geared toward VZ, and i would check out Demolition rom as well..

Lol its just my opinion, doesnt mean anything, the main reason for this thread was a consolidated list of the roms...

And i used it for 2 weeks because I was to busy/lazy to flash another one and such... lol...

IMHO you can not post a reliable review after 24 hours of using a rom. I would think something more like 5-7 days is needed. I would also break the reviews/ratings on similar features sample:

0- Speed--vs-- Reliability
1--WM version 6.1 - versus - 6.5
2--Plain- versus Light apps- versus lots of Apps
3--Manila Version ( TF3d2, Tf3d, HD, Xmod, etc) - Versus Mobile Shell - Versus other today shells (Note that programs like Htc weather master or showaco allow u to modify manila more and the chef might omit them to make the rom faster , i think they should NOT be penalize for that)
4--Eye Candy ( custom icons vs defaults, wallpapers, themes)
5--Ability to customize - some roms pretty much dont have the complete netcf3.5 and installs fail or cause problems when You try to add CABS you like....
6-- How often the author releases fixes, updates apps etc.. Mighty rom, Juicy rom, Silence and other get a ton of updates and make it more tempting ..

I think its great you took the time to test them, believe me a lot of us still looking for the perfect rom. But you can NOT treat every rom the same. I for one loved the stock option of tf3d2 on CFAYs rom and put up with tf3d2's many flows until i decided to give mobile shell a try.... havent looked back.. lol

Again this is just a friendly critic about your critic...

Re: DivxRipPimps List of Roms (Updated May 6th @ 10 AM)

Yes i agree, but first off remember that there are around 30 roms right now... I dont have 2 years to test them as fast as they are updated... people are welcome to test them for longer than a day, or even just review the rom they use everyday, and ill add it to a list below each rom and make a point averaging system...

As for the points in each review that you requested, I would never have the time to do that for each rom, nore would i care that much, unless there are a few selected ones i like enough to do that for...

thanks for the input, i need to get my lazy a** updating the main list, there are 9 new roms to add, and i need to update the info for each rom...
