absolutely right. the Airrave is EVDO CAPABLE but needs an update to enable it

Yeah, I don't think anyone is arguing the accuracy of that.

From the Airave FAQ ( http://www.nextel.com/assets/pdfs/en...irave_faqs.pdf ):
*

Then

So if youre so smart why dont you call Airave at 1-866-556-7310 and ask them? My answer was absolute because two techs there have told me that fact.

For kicks (even though it wouldn't matter what they said) I called that number (Airave Tech Support) and they confirmed that the FAQ is accurate that in non-EVDO available situations you can use the Airave for data connections.

Again, though, it wouldn't matter since all you have to do to find out for sure is... well, use it. lol

Thanks!

i can testify that when connected to my airave, i stay in ev mode with 4-5 bars and the speed is great(i had a conversation on here with my tp) and didn't have any lags. but my airave likes to quit every once and again and then i get 0-1 bar.

Well my old Instinct didnt use the data from it, and neither does my TP...

That's fine, I'll take your word for it... just don't make it sound like your absolute statement covers everyones experiences. My Airave functions as advertised, I am sorry that yours does not.

At the bottom of the little white sticker on my Airave's is what I think is the firmware version... My home one is 07.07 and my office one is 07.06... what's yours say?

Like i said, THEY told me it did NOT work for data, at ALL. So, yes there is absolution in that, and its not wrong. Now, if they were wrong, thats a diff story.

I dont think its a FW number, mine says 08-2007 right after 'date of manufacturing'....if these just became for sale last summer, why did they sit around so damn long? LOL

Re: Touch Pro + Airave issue

To be honest, dude, your original post wasn't "Sprint says Airaves don't handle data, so as far as I know they do not." It was "contrary to what you may have been told the Airave is for voice only, not data." So yeah... it's wrong, lol. My whole issue was with your initial jerky post. :-P I am a jerk all the time, but I admit it, hehe.

Anyway, yeah... mine doesn't say "Date of Manufacturing" but if that's a date... they sure were old by the time I got them... especially one... a whole year older. lol
