can't answer calls on touch pro
 

I just got a touch pro, when a call comes in, I'm not able to answer it using the touch screen. Also, if I'm on a call, I'm not able to press any of the buttons on the touch screen. Is there something wrong with the phone or is there an option that I missed? If I'm not on a call or not trying to answer a call, the touch screen works fine.

Bumping a thread after 35 minutes...you need to be more patient.

Also you weren't very clear in your post - you didn't mention what software you are running, what ROM you are running, who your carrier is, whether your phone was new or bought used (Ebay, Craigslist, etc.), whether you've tried a soft reset, a hard reset, etc.

But based on your symptoms - screen works most of the time, not while a call is coming in - I'd venture a guess that you have some software like Pocket Shield on there that (optionally) locks the screen while a call is coming in / in progress.

Edit 2: It's not pocket shield per se. That app shows a clear "locked" screen during a call. But there are other utilities that may offer similar functionality without being so obvious that they have locked the screen.

sorry, just annoyed that I can't get this thing to work properly.

It's the stock rom. carrier is sprint, purchased brand new from bestbuy. I didn't install anything on the phone yet. I tried a number of soft resets, removing battery etc... For some reason I haven't been able to do a hard reset, still trying...

You can use the "clear storage" option to do a hard reset, though if your TP was truly NIB I doubt it's necessary (unless you think someone at BB monkeyed around with it before you got it). Sorry then I can't be of more help; I'm sure someone else with more experience with the TP may have more information. I've only had mine for a week and I haven't read the manual yet.

On a happier note, I love this device. I just wish it had more hardware buttons. :)

Have you installed "Advance Config" or Diamond Tweak"....if so there is a reg edit that needs to be done....it causes in some cases to not let the phone be answered with a data connection....you can press all you want and still it will not answer.

I will see if I can find it.

Edit :Issues with answering your phone when a data connection is open (answer buttons don't do anything)? Looks like a tweak messes up a registry key that affects this. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings], make sure SuspendResume is set to #777 (not anything containing GPRS). This issue seems to be related to Advanced Config.

I did the clear storage and still the same problem.
Unknown, I don't have any programs installed, period.

I think there is some sort of hardware issue with my phone...

Hey Bjohn, I'm having the same issues with mine so your not alone! It is very annoying. I have had mine for about 2 months now and even tried a hard reset 3 days ago with no luck. Mine will even answer a call by itself when trying to get out of my case. I think UNKNOWN ZONE has the answer and will wait to see what he has to say. Thanks to this site I may get some answers as Sprint has no idea or help for me.

If you running a Stock rom..yea it might be a hardware issue...if you started from scratch..and still have the problem with the touchscreen...

I just threw the "Advance Config/Diamond Tweak" just incase you were unaware that these programs would also generate the "I cant answer a call..pressed all buttons" thread, now not all people have this issue....but most do.

MacDaddy....most people use the "S2A dialer skin" to avoid the answering of the phone while trying to get out of the case...there are some other software....that will also help....but I think S2A which I also have/run did help alot with that problem.

i have the same issue as well.
i have upgrade to the lateset HTC rom for TP.
i did hard reset.
i install the S2A but the touch screen dont response when i send or get a call.

anyone can help with it?
