Screen stays dark, no response

I have a Japanese HTC Touch Pro (The Docomo HT-01A). I have noticed I am having a similar problem to many other people on the forums, but I haven't found a solid answer yet (the best thread is 31 pages long and is taking too long to read through the entire thing).

So here it is: when my screen is dark sometimes the phone freezes and won't wake up or shut off. I always have to take out the battery when this happens. It can happen during the day when it is sitting there (I especially notice it when Live Messenger is on, but many other times as well). At night it can freeze while charging, leaving the white light on the little round button on, but again requires me to take the battery out to get it to shut off. When this happens it doesn't appear to be successfully charging either.

I read some suggestions about resetting the firmware to stock, making sure no programs are installed on the miniSD card, turning off alarms, disabling ActiveSync, and more, but I have no idea where to start or if anyone has found a specific answer for this problem.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sounds like you need a new phone :(

As I can't seem to find a way to flash my original ROM (can't find a copy of it anywhere) I probably will have to go get it switched for a new one. I did find 5 different ways to back it up though... that is useful.

You can try these stock ROMs here, but these are all CDMA. Probably silly question, but did you flash a CDMA or GSM ROM? Trying a different ROM may help you out. I have only experienced that problem once, and a soft reset fixed it, and haven't had it happen again...
