Maybe an easy question
Does any one else’s data connection icon stay active at all times? When ever I go to the comm. Manager and I turn off the data connections button the data connection Icon goes away and then I go to the internet explorer and use it it comes back and then when I close the internet explorer after use, the data connection icon in the start menu is still active after all programs are closed out. So basically at all times unless I am using my phone my data connection Icon in the start menu is active. If this is common, does anyone know what data is being transmitted.
Thank you |
Re: Maybe an easy question
Any Time I use data it does not close out unless I close the data in settings. Of course data is not flowing it shows dead arrows

Re: Maybe an easy question
It could also be that if you have email accounts active on your phone, ActiveSync would kick in and transmit data to whatever server it is set to, checking for new emails... Just another idea.

My arrows are alive.

Re: Maybe an easy question
No email account active

Re: Maybe an easy question
i use the long press to turn off the data connection. Start/settings/system/long press then just set it to auto execute and tap on the terminate data connection.

Re: Maybe an easy question
That does not happen to me. Do you have any programs that are constantly polling an internet location?
|
Re: Maybe an easy question
no programs useing the internet that I can see. Changing the to the long press option worked but it did it automaticaly before. At least I think it did.

Re: Maybe an easy question
Yeah, mine closes the connection automatically when it's not using it. You shouldn't have it using data 100% of the time.

Re: Maybe an easy question
The only time(s) that my data becomes active is using the browser, if I'm updating the weather, or using WiFi router. Outside of that, I don't have this issue. I would suggest checking any apps running. This may or may not have an affect, but you can check to see if you have "Receive incoming beams" checked (Start - Settings - Connections - Beams). This could cause some activity, not to mention decrease battery life.

Re: Maybe an easy question
I have tryed everyones sugestions and still no luck. what did work was the long press option. is there a way of telling what program is transmitting or should I try hard reseting to try to get it back to normal "I do not want to do this. I will have to reload a lot of SH**". Please can any one give me any more options??

Re: Maybe an easy question
This happened to me before when I had my Mogul. It stopped after a couple hard resets.

Re: Maybe an easy question
im confused... if u go turn off data< then connect to the internet, well u just turned the data back on by doing so.. also, and send/receive schedules will reactivate it as well...
once u end your browsing session, you would have to go back and redisable data if u want it off again... |
Re: Maybe an easy question
when your done with the web, use long press to shut down the data transfer. as stated above, once you open up IE or O it will reconnect. then when you shut them down long press and your done.

Re: Maybe an easy question
Download advanced Config. Install it, open it up, click on menu\more settings\connections, and check the box "disconnect after:". Then put the amount of time you want for it to automatically disconnect below.
Then reboot. After this is enabled, it should be off most of the time that you connect, unless you have programs activating the internet. If you have programs activating the internet, then you will need to take a close look at what you have runnign and other settings. the programs that come to my mind were already mentioned. You can also get a task manager program such as dotfred's task manager. |
Re: Maybe an easy question
I think he's saying that the data arrows stay lit all the time
