The screen just does not work that way. In a nut shell resistive touch screens work by having layers, when you push your finger or stylus onto it causes those two layers to make contact. Then with some electrical magic the system knows where the screen has been pressed.

It does not operate by measuring pressure. So it would be impossible to make a scale.

you sure it doesnt actually measure the pressure bc i know ive read somewhere that there is less pressure needed when using a stylus then when using your finger....wouldnt it need to know how much pressure is in that area in order for this to be true?

I really don't know how to explain this properly but I'll give it a go. The tip of the stylus is smaller then your finger, thus it focuses the pressure in one area much better then your finger. This causes the two layers to touch each other.

Touch screens have more to do with electrical fields then pressure.

this is an excellent idea for an app, instead of everyone wasting their time building 100000000000000 roms that r similar someone should make this useful program. make a toolkit, u can include a level app and ruler with the scale app. if anyone can do it its u guys

but with advanced config you can change the sensitivity of your screen tap or something like that. i don't see why our screens wouldn't be able to weigh something with that option.

haha i was thinking about this a couple of months ago. thought it would make a perfect little scale for a gram or 2 that would need to be weighed out (oregano). just for those times at the beach when some guys is like hey, i want to cook some pasta but i need exactly 2 grams of oregano to do it right. i could bust a maguiver, pull out my swiss army phone, and poof! 2 grams of cooking genious!

Get one of these... It's only like 25 bucks.
Besides... Your product representative should have his Oregano nicely packaged in little baggies and weighed. You should have nothing to worry about unless you are buying at a non reputable establishment that is not monitored by the department of weights and measures... OR... If the oregano is actually being weighed by you for redistribution. Then I see why you would not want to have such a device in your "possession" lol.

lol but these devices are so big and bulky, expecally when i already have a phone in my pocket. if the department of health comes in and i should feel the need to jog, i don't want an extra piece of equipment smacking my leg (haha).
