HTC Fuze GPS
Ok, after searching numerous topics on various forums, i am still confused. Does the HTC Fuze GPS actually work or is the chip locked to only ATT? Or does it simply suck?
I read so many "fixes" for ATT GPS telling me to use a program called GPS Test to get a lock to satellites, but the program just sits there on "GPS Starting Up" even when configured properly. Has anyone gotten the GPS to work with the HTC Fuze and ATT? |
Re: HTC Fuze GPS
download google maps and go into setting and turn on GPS and see what happens.

Re: HTC Fuze GPS
oh, and another thing, go to start/settings/externalgps/ gps program port=com4/ hardware none baud rate of 4800/ access check manage GPS auto. the make sure you have the location turned on, start/settings/phone/services/location setting(highlight then click "get settings" and set it to location on, not 911 only.

Re: HTC Fuze GPS
I would not be posting if my google maps GPS was working. When I turn on google maps, configured to COM 4 and baud 38400 it gets stuck at "initializing gps" then tells me No GPS receiver found.

Re: HTC Fuze GPS
try running the baud at 4800 like i said. again, is your location set to on or 911?

Re: HTC Fuze GPS
I am also having problems with Google Maps. In the Settings>Phone>Services tab I don't have an entry for GPS Settings.

Re: HTC Fuze GPS
i tried your baud rate and nothing. there is no location services in my services tab of phone settings. my ROM is a ATT specific rom so its not like the gps is disabled by my ROM.
but id like to thank you for your time, it is appreciated :) |
Re: HTC Fuze GPS
do you have HTC GPStools? if so fire that up with the same and see what happens. also, search around for the location settings, im sure there in there somewhere.

When I started the stock AT&T Fuze back up, I opened TomTom7 (although Google Maps should be similar), and took a short drive in the car. Within about 5 minutes, it had finally secured a lock on 8 satellites. Each time I've started up a GPS program since (even after soft-resets), it locks on in approximately 30 seconds. Really hope this helps.... P.S. Also, use COM 4 and a baud of 4800. That was default and seems to work great for me... |
