google map freezes touch pro if not exit after use?
 

I have a stock sprint touch pro that was used to replace my mogul. I love everything about it, but one quirk I found annoying is that with the latest google map 3.0.0.12, if I just let my phone go to stand by mode (screen off), then when I try to wake it up by pressing power button, nothing will happen. At that point I can only hit the soft reset hole in the bottom. When I have my mogul before I was always able to wake up from stand by with google map on...the worse would be I can't lock on the GPSs anymore. Does anyone have similiar experience with googple map?

I had this same issue. It seems to be a problem with it polling the GPS driver for the new Latitude feature. It would also crash my phone when I went to the "add friends" in the latitude menu.

I tried updating the radio on my Sprint TouchPro to 1.11F because I figured it to be an issue with the stock radio gps driver, but the crashing persisted.


However, it appears to have worked itself out. I had downloaded the Google Mobile App which I believe also contains the Google Maps program. I assume it installed over my old Google Maps (although technically the same version number), and I haven't had my phone crash since.

Based on my experiences, I expect the issue to be software based since changing the radio had no effect. I would advise downloading the Google Mobile App, since it cant really hurt anything.

Thanks for the reply izanagi! You are a genius! after installing google mobile app, I can leave google map in the background without freezing, and when waken up the GPS is still active unlike what I experienced in mogul! Thank you sir!

I'm having this same issue. I get a lock with 9 sats or so but it will not track me when im driving, just sits there. Then i exit the app then my phone locks up 2 mins later and i have to use the pinhole reset.
