Picture mail usage?

Quick question, I just got my bill and I got charged the maximum amount for data usage, which is $75.00, as I do not have unlimited data- I know I should add it but I figured with wifi at work and home I wouldnt need it- I do however have unlimited text, pics, and vids, so my question is whether or not when I connect to Sprint Picture mail it is using data. The CS rep told me when I got the phone that as long as I had unlimited pics it would not charge me. If thats the case than what is using data? If I go on the internet Wi-Fi is enabled, and if I update the weather Wi-Fi is enabled. Is it possible that these are using data instead of Wi-Fi? The other CS rep told me to take the phone to a Sprint store for a diagnostic check to see why the data is being used, is this possible? I searched but couldnt find any relevent topics, also disabling data is not an option as I need pic mail.

Re: Picture mail usage?

Whatever the case, demand a refund as it was not clearly explained to you by the Rep apparently. And then add the data.

IIRC correctly, there is some data usage even while using WiFi. I also think there is a way to block that as well so you dont get charged.

And I would demand refund too.

when i called to find out why the cs rep was like "you obviously are using data and you have to pay for it." I told her its not like i was trying to find a way to use the data and not pay for it I just would like to be explained why my phone is using it. thats when she told me to take it to a store. I guess i can call again and see what they say. I am going to add data to the plan i just want the 75.00 fixed

If they hassle you, ask for a supervisor. They do whatever you want.

Are you using the default Sprint app to send picture mail, or are you using something else, like arcsoft or sMMS? If you are using something else, that could be why.

It could also be that your account isn't coded properly. Just call back and tell them the only data you have been using is for picture mail and to have them check the account.

I am using the default picmail application from sprint, and the ishtty about that is when i first got the phone pic mail wouldnt work so the sprint cs told me to go on the web and download the new app, i'm like isnt that gonna charge me, and he said no

Re: Picture mail usage?

would it be wrong of me to offer my assistance to help get your fee's reduced when you really have no issues with sprint for a fee?

I mean, if i charged say, $25 to get your bill fixed up, would that be bad or not allowed?

That's why i have the excellent plan i have because i managed my buddies account and brought the bill down from like 900 to 400 a month. So i pretty much just pay for my line 9.99 (which should be one of the free lines but i have 2 extra lines that are free) and 7 for insurance, and then 15 for unlimited inet, txt, picturemail and voice.

I remember a while back Verizon charged you for sending PicMail AND charged you for the data it took to send the PicMail. But that's cause Verizon is a bunch of jerks. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's not too far fetched to think that Sprint is double charging you.

I'm kinda surprised that you're having this problem. I thought that the Touch Pro forced you to be on one of the unlimited data plans. I don't know for sure, but I thought that the $69 plan was unlimited data, a bunch of txt, and 400min anytime? Again, I could be wrong.

I thought also you need to have a data plan with these phones. Which for you not being put on one could be there fault as well.

I do know if I access my data for my weather or sending a picture mail *using sprints*, and then i go into wifi. The wifi doesnt take over and i am still in using data. I have to compleatly turn off data and then turn wifi on. This is on a touch diamond tho. But i think i remember being told when i ordered the phone u need to be on a data plan. Which I am. Unlimited text, pic, data.

So, from what I was told once, it still uses data connection to download the pics. The "unlimited" picture mail plan (at least the $5 add on they used to offer) is for sending only. to receive, it uses the data connection... now I was told this a few months back when I called about data usage charges on my wife's old dumbphone (which only received picmail as a link to the PM website) so i can't vouch for whether or not its the same now with the new billing structure and smartphones.

this actually would make sense, and i can see how it would use data, however the cs rep told me pic mail, if i have the unlimited pic mail plan, would not use data, and complaining to sprint starts now...

Well i got this phone as a replacement for my mogul that was a piece. so i dont know if because it was a replacement that the current plan was just what they went with no questions asked

Re: Picture mail usage?

you don't have to have data on your line for one of these phones. as a matter of fact for my business line i have data and sms blocked so i don't get any fee's whatsoever.

also, $5 picturemail *should* be all inclusive. so you better start calling or get the service removed.
