Touch Pro as a Web Cam

Hey guys...I was at a coffee house one night and this guy was streaming a live recording to myspace over the weekend (he had a sprint diamond). When I confronted him he showed me his diamond and it definitely had a custom ROM on it. This guy works for Sprint and told me that all of his custom software comes from sprint. Anyway, my question is...

Do we have a software program to tum our cameras into web cams?

I use my TP as a webcam with a program called Webcamera Plus. It works pretty good, but in order to stream, I believe you would need a secondary connection such as wifi, since the program requires a sync relationship to run and can't use Phone as Modem in that case.

This is really cool. I set one up, my name is therookielot. Just one thing...I put it in my holder while I drive so it's standing vertically. I guess the screen doesn't allow anything but horizontal cuz the video is landscape style online haha. Anyone know how to rotate this?

not so...I used webcam plus all the time and I don't need any wifi. No secondary connection necessary but if you get a phone call during webcam conference, the program will disconnect

i've heard that webcamera plus runs in a funky resolution on the TP. But I assume it at least streams the correct resolution to the PC?

Re: Touch Pro as a Web Cam

I've never tried using my PPC for a webcam. I've seen programs for it, but never tried it because the camera on my Titan sucked. Now that I have Touch Pro, I'll have to give it a try and see how it works.

Any suggestions for good programs to do this? What's the best one?

Just want to put my 2 cents in on Qik.

So far so good for me. Quick easy download/install and just as easy to use. Launch the app and click stream. As long as I'm in good coverage, it streams great with only a 3 second delay over EVDO. The audio comes in nice and clear too. This program could come in quite handy, espeically in situation likes car accidents, meetings with your boss...spying on your sig other. :)

Can someone shed a little light on this? I'm sure some of you had the same problems.Or maybe I should just get a new cell phone holder?

Thanks @ tbran and Jason25, both programs are awesome...and Jason25 the qik.com program is the one the guy was using at the coffee shop...I could stop cheesing and smiling in my own camera because I was streaming live to the internet from my phone. Yes I deleted that video...maybe I can find something meaningful to start a video blog on.

I can't access the site at work, but if you go to the site it will give you a list of phones that it will work on.

definitely, i have a tp and a mogul.. heres what i do, i run wmwifi on my tp and then turn on my moguls wifi, connect to my tp, then stream qik from my mogul... so i get 0 delay alot for true live but even with just good evdo im like the above poster and usually its 2-3 sec delay..

so yeah, i run it from my mogul and picture looks great if u wanna watch urself online to check first

[quote=therookielot;735354] your landscape question here quote]

just a little curious as to why your streaming when ur driving i guess... doesnt seem to safe lol..

im sure theres like an adjustable dock, that swivles(so u can turn ur phone sideways) that would also plug into ur cig lighter or something..

ive been using qik for a few months, and never seen an option to change something like that

Alright I'll pick up an adjustable dock today. Probably the best bet. Thanks!

no prob... heres another though on the dock though... if you can find some kind of mountable, maybe something really for gps, that u would attach to you windshield(or for qiks sake, your driver side window might be a nice place for it if ur windows not down) or something instead might be a better solution... since qik will run your pro hot like alot of streaming apps, so its not actually gonna charge after a few minutes anyways due to the heat issues, just like when charging normally...

might save ya afew dollars too, cuz now u dont need a holder with charging abilities..

Good thinking. I noticed that. I was running phone as modem last night and my laptop is right next to my window so I placed the phone on the ledge between the screen and the window. Gotta love that midwest chill.
