How much tape did it take you? (to fix the backcover's creaking)

I'm specifically referring to this post http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...8&postcount=34

and it's subsequent thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=41877

which NEVER should have been merged btw

Anyways, it took me 3 pieces of tape on both sides, and there are still a couple slight creaks. I've attached two pics of my setup. Maybe my positioning is off? Not sure, but 3 pieces seemed a little high. How many pieces did it take you?

I dyed my battery cover to black and all of the creaks went away

Is that a cloth material in the second picture, please keep in mind the type of heat that the Touch Pro generates

It took a lot of tape before mine would stop creaking.

Wow, really? Wouldn't see how dying it would fix the creaking issue. The dye only adheres to the outside of the cover right? Isn't the creaking derived from the space between the device and the inside of the cover?

I have wondered if the heat + the tape would mess anything up, but it's just painters tape.

The heat from the boiling water most likely shrunk the cover.

You arent really supposed to boil the cover. You get the water just hot enough that you cant touch it. No bubbles. If you boiled it you did it wrong. I have dyed 4 covers and never had a problem with shrinking or cracking or any other craziness.

Re: How much tape did it take you? (to fix the backcover's creaking)

I didn't boil it, but I made it hot enough to absorb the dye and i'm sure it might of shrunk a little, it fits perfect
