ok you got to start, settings, on setting hit you phone icon. then at the botton hit services, and mode of operation and hit get settings. there you can change from 1x mode and evo.

Well yeah but I want to be able to fall back to 1x if there is no EVDO. I just know there should be. I will be in the middle of town with a full EVDO signal and randomly just lose it all at once.

skruff77 - Thanks for reposting what I had already posted in the first post of the thread. :P

EDIT: No idea how the heck my post ended up all the way down here where it made no sense...

This is really just meant for downloading purposes. Its easy enough to turn on and off...

Sadly Sprint is having those same network issues here in Cleveland. We used the EVDO cards for our field services crew at work and were told by Sprint that the network engineers are working on it and to expect EVDO outages. Ill try this when they have it all sorted out. Thanks.

Anybody else have lots of problems with losing EVDO and getting dropped to 1X in a full EVDO area? There is a setting in the registry you can change to fix this annoying problem.

Its called Mode of Operation.

For those that are interested, change HKLM/Software/OEM/PhoneSetting... change HiddenModeOperation from 1 to 0.

To recall that, go into your Phone options... then hit mode of operation, get settings, change from hybrid to EVDO. This will force EVDO. Beware though, if you don't change it back, all calls and texts will not go through and you can't make calls either. This is strictly for tethering!

Thanks!! This is also useful if you're in an area or building (several buildings on campus for me) where the phone goes back and forth from EVDO to 1X. By setting it to 1X, I still get my calls and texts, but my battery lasts a lot longer not having to cycle between towers all day long.

hmm been curious for awhile on how to set it to use only EVDO and not switch to 1X for awhile...
