Re: WMA files no longer associated & ring files don't ring or play now
If you've reorganized your music folder(s) or changed the path in any way the ringer wont be found when a call comes in. I'm not sure if this is the case but its a start.
Do you use the 'Mp3 Trimmer' to create new, smaller files for ringers? I think this is better than setting a full song as a ringtone. |

Re: WMA files no longer associated & ring files don't ring or play now
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not looking to use anything but the stock wma files that wm6 came with, like Ring-Bella for example. These are still in the Windows\ring directory, and will play fine from a media player. But clicked on directly, or selected in my notifications dialog for incoming calls, they won't play. |

I see. Have you soft reset recently? Windows mobile is pretty finicky and when I am changing settings I always reset.
Just to be clear: you are trying to assign the ringer using the settings menu right? |

Re: WMA files no longer associated & ring files don't ring or play now
Yup. Definitely start every troubleshooting with a soft reset. And yes, I'm using the settings dialog for "notifications".
I really think this has something to do with WM6 no longer knowing what to do with a wma file. |

Re: WMA files no longer associated & ring files don't ring or play now
Anyone else have any ideas? This is kind of a big problem, since my ringers are limited to very irritating "alarm" sounds (.wav's).

Re: WMA files no longer associated & ring files don't ring or play now
You didn't rename them by chance did you?
That has been a problem in the past. You could try copying them to the windows dir, that has worked for me before. As a last resort, my favorite ringer is one I made when ringers weren't working right for me. Here's what I did: record a sound of you making a ringing noise. copy that file to the rings directory, and/or windows directory set that as your ringtone it has worked well for me... edit: ok, it's not on youtube, however I've attatched the ringer I made, people seem to like it. It is subtle yet noticable, busness friendly yet casual (I may be biased)... Move or copy my file to the rings directory, and/or windows directory set that as your ringtone enjoy! (if you like it give me click on the thanks)

Re: WMA files no longer associated & ring files don't ring or play now
I have this problem as well on my Apache. It seems for some reason the ringtones that have the file extension of .MP3 just want to quit working sometimes. I have fixed this in the past but it still continues to happen. These same files will also play through WMP. Verify the path to your ringtones and try deleting and recopying. I believe this is what has worked for me. I have got it to work in the past and am dealing with it again right now. When I fix mine I will post again
