Okay I'm really confused... Touch Pro RAM?

I haven't been following the PPC world in awhile... but it seems to me that the Touch Pro only has 192MB of RAM like the Diamond? What happened to 288MB?

I decided to ditch my Curve that I switched to and ordered a Touch Pro from retention today for 225 bucks. I'm just curious what I'll have to work with...

the sprint touch pro has 288 mb ram with about 85 used for program so you end up with 203.xx left over for actual use. the verizon touch pro is the one that has 192 mb ram.

well, there's rom and ram.. the diamond and pro (minus vzw) have the same ram, but the pro has MUCH more rom.

Yeah that's what I thought... I just kept seeing screenshots showing 192MB of RAM in the ROMs section (good lord I've never seen so many ROMs for a phone - its gonna be next to impossible to figure out which one I want lol) and got confused.

I thought the Diamond had 192MB of RAM? I know about the 512MB of ROM on the Pro... But I could have sworn the Diamond had only 192MB of RAM?

no fortunately for us they gave the same ram to both devices. they just cut the rom in half for the diamond

Just try them all one by one and see which works.... or you could start with Mighty Rom 4.9.1 which worked the best of the bunch for myself !!

The gsm version of the diamond has 192 mb of ram, thats probably what you are thinking about.

Well that's cool that they gave both the Diamond and the Touch Pro the same RAM... I wish I would have known that though because I might have gotten the Diamond and skipped the keyboard. Oh well. *shrugs*

It should be here Monday. Woot!

i still cant understand why verizon does this crap. i will guarantee it is a verizon program/reg thing and not an actual chip difference in the TP. i have sent HTC an email asking about it so maybe they know why.

Verizon does a lot of things that are bull****, I remember the e815 and v710 fiasco, because I had that phone. They had locked the interface to disable bluetooth transfer, had it not been for the micro sd slot you had to pay them to get YOUR pictures out of your device. Even the syncing app couldn't extract them from the phone. And this was the last phone before they started installing that crappy red theme on ALL their phones...
They are over priced and very strict with their devices.

**** them... I much rather prefer cheaper prices and more freedom with Sprint!

i know its been a few days but i did get a reply to my email to HTC and the tech stated that the phone does indeed have a different chip in it. how retarded it that? oh well, still looks like im getting a TP. im tired of my 6800 not sending/receiving pics. guess i should have bought a vzn 6800 instead of flashing an altell 6800 to vzn. live and learn.

Re: Okay I'm really confused... Touch Pro RAM?

There seems to be a lot of confusion here, so I will try to help.

Euro GSM Diamond: 256MB ROM, 192MB RAM, 4GB internal storage
Euro GSM Pro: 512MB ROM, 288MB RAM, MicroSD Slot

Sprint Diamond: 256MB ROM, 288MB RAM, 4GB internal storage
Sprint Pro: 512MB ROM, 288MB RAM, MicroSD Slot

AT&T Pro (Fuze): 512MB ROM, 288MB RAM, MicroSD Slot

Verizon Pro: 512MB ROM, 192MB RAM, MicroSD Slot

So to summarize, yes, the Sprint versions of the Diamond and Pro have the same amount of ram and the same battery, but the unlocked GSM versions had the Diamond with only 192MB of ram (same as the VZW Touch Pro) and a very underpowered battery (which allowed them to make it crazy wafer thin compared to the Sprint version).
