Looking for .cab or regedit to increase number of characters for TEXT past 130

Im trying to find out how to increase the number of characters that i can send in one text message over 130, i think there may be a cab or reg edit, but i searched and could not find it.

The limit is 160, but anything over that just gets split into 2 messages.

Never heard of one, but I know if you go over the limit, you can just keep on typing and it will send it out as 2 texts.

HKCU/Software/Microsoft/SMS/TextShared

Change the "IS637MaxAscii..." value to 160 then soft reset.

right & sometimes you won't receive both parts.

When my son's GF sends him a longer than 160 text from her enV phone to his verizon xv6800 he only gets the first part. What really amazes me is there is no fix for this........

the SMS limit is only 160 on any carrier after that a second message will be sent or received. if your having problems call your carrier.

true dat, reg edit wont do JACK, 160 is 160 no mas, nomsayin..

If you've flashed to one of the TELUS based roms, you might be down to 130. In that case, you can do the reg edit posted above or you can try the cab in Mighty's Rom page on the CDMA upgrades forum.

a second message will be sent, it may or may not be received depending on what phone you are sending/receiving from -believe me, I spent hours researching this including calling vz tech support.....

By the way, there are a BUNCH of previous threads here on exactly this problem & there is no solution to it.

mine work just fine ... i have the touch pro with sprint // i would try another rep. have them put a tt (troubleticket) in becasue it is fixable just prob a setting wrong on the swich becasue i used to work for AT&T and we have fixed this problem before in the past. i was not a tech2 rep but it can be fixed somehow.
