A hack to remove today screen lines

Sorry if this has been posted already, or if its in the wrong place I read about a cool registry edit that'll remove the little line that separate your today screen plugins. I dont think it'll work with touchflo or other custom today apps. But for those who use the simple wm today screen, it makes the dividing lines disappear. I tried it and it works. Using a registry editor, go to HKLM/software/microsoft/today and create a new dword named HidePluginSeparators and give it a value of 1 softreset after a minute and they'll (lines) will be gone

that also removes the icons next to them, is there any way to remove *just* the lines?

That must be pretty new, because I was looking for this 6 months ago with no luck. But it's perfect! THANKS!

Which one removes the icons? The reg hack i posted, or the cab file? Just curious.

Thanks! I'm about ready to ditch tf3d and this will come in handy!

Try UI Tweaker. There is an option to remove the horizontal lines from the today screen.

When did this whole thing get figured out?? This is groundbreaking, I have banged my head for the past 4 years trying to figure out how to do this and finally it has come to light!

Hey Thanks!

I tried the cab - twice, and it did nothing for me.

The registry edit worked a treat, though. My icons are still there - but the lines are gone. My today screen looks great!

the cab, removed my tf3d lines, on the home tab, but took the icons as well. the reg edit won't affect tf3d.

I read about it over at wmpowerusers on Saturday/24th. I tried it out, saw that it really worked, and posted it here that night :)

Yes, the cab is for the tf3d home screen not the today screen. It's similar to the clear/clean home cabs which remove parts of the 1bbxxx manila which has clockback, alarm and calendar icons.. a second file has the dotted line removal.. both within the cab. You reinstall your clock and your icons will be back.

I don't have horizontal lines on my today screen and I do not have that registry entry.
I am running a custom ROM though

Wait so I'm hearing mixed results... I'll be trying this in 2 weeks when I make my WAD theme, so I need to know:

IS IT POSSIBLE to remove the standard today plugin lines [NOT TF3D] and keep the icons? It sounds like some of you are saying it works for TF3D only

Re: A hack to remove today screen lines

the reg edit posted was for the today screen, the cab is for tf3d.

1bbfdc9b_manila is your alarm/calendar/callhistory icons and backmost portion of flip frames

The other files in the cab are
4820c63b_manila = down arrow for flip
6aec5f68_manila = up arrow for flip
74ddfccb_manila = dot for lines
7e640092_manila = xml file for other language

Ifyou want just to remove the lines here is the dots zipped up...which are responsible for the lines. Just unzip into windows folder with total commander.

No, it doesn't. The OP is talking about the WM today screen, not TF3D

There is, edit some the 1c684cd8_manila file in manila editor and set the sizes of the dotted lines to 0

The problem with getting rid of dotted lines this way is you may get rid of them in places you want them where they are called. I think a better way is through the 1c684cd8_manila file

Now it seems the text is not centered any longer anyone else have this happen too??? or did i just not see that everything seems to be on the left margin even with the lines?

Good to know about the 1c68 edit, at the time of my post I hadn't ventured into mode9.. now I've been in that file a few times I think I can easily do this mod.. however, I actually like my dotted lines gone in all other called spots! Maybe I'm just used to it that way now.. LOL
