wow the 3000 is huge!

you think the telus radio made that much difference? worried about flashing radios because last I looked there is no way to go back tot he stock TP radio on Alltel as of yet. so it it's no better/ or worse I'm SOL.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I would be willing to try that too.

probably gonna drop the cash and do the 2000mah from seidio if I keep the phone.

I am actually starting to believe charging all the time ISN'T a good thing. Now this is not always the case, and I don't know why it happens, but sometimes I take my phone off the charger, during a time when it should be trickling (fully charged), and it's warm to the touch. That HAS to have an effect on battery life.

Sure enough my battery is crapping out after only 3 months.

Got home to a 70% charge. Data connections disconnect after 20 secs so they don't stay on, and I have verified this by manually doing a send/recieve and watching the data connection switch to off.

I had 2 bars in an evdo area so why, why , why does my battery life suck so bad?

That doesn't sound bad at all. ~3hours off charge including 45-min of game play and you are at 70%. Sounds about right to me. Games (especially games constantly polling the tilt-sensor) drain the battery fairly fast. I bet you would have been at 90% without that 45 min of game play, and losing 10% in 3 hours is damn good for any smart phone.

It was suggested earlier and I cannot get it to install. It simply says was unable to install.

other options?

EDIT: update wouldn't do an OTA install but took the cab from activesync, anyway here's what I show, weird I guess it's not working right for the TP. showing a battery temp of 329.8 C shows battery current, I assume that means battery consumption of 107mA while sitting on USB wiht PC then it drops down to 57mA unplugged it shows consumed ,1mA after 9 minutes. I have included images of two power meters I used both showed identical mA #s but one had better graph then another. anyway running 57-157 until the I took a 5 minute call and then it spiked to over 400 then took almost 18 minutes to come back down to 57.

Excellent work, dyskinesia

The temperature in Celsius is inaccurate obviously. I believe someone mentioned you have to move the decimal to the left one space.

Re: charging all the time good or bad?

I may be mistaken but aren't these devices equipped with voltage cutoff? I have left phones on charge for days and it has not hurt them. Lithium batteries whether they are Ion or polymer cannot be overcharged or the will explode and cause serious damage. Search
youtube
for
li
ion fire or
li
poly fire. Again I may be wrong but I would think that the
manufacturers
would be very careful to put some sort of HI VOLTAGE and LOW VOLTAGE CUTOFF system in the device as these batteries cannot be over discharged either because they cant be brought back if they are ( don't know why ) but I learned this racing radio control cars. Just my 2 cents.

Now.....Why does my Touch Pro stop charging when
I'm
using it? Either when
I'm
talking using
blue-tooth
or using it as a modem. it will just stop charging :disgust::disgust: quite frustrating. any input regarding this issue would be greatly
appreciated
.

Re: charging all the time good or bad?

i would hazard to guess you might not be using the stock charger?
based on my #s above you can see that the phone easily jumps over 500ma with a call so add BT and i bet you easily exceed the 500ma that most usb chargers typically put out. the htc does 1A or 1000ma so it can handle most of what you throw at it. if it is a stock charger then i don't know.

Re: charging all the time good or bad?

i am using the stock charger in fact I've only had the phone a week. i made an inquiry to HTC and this is the reply.

We understand it is important to have all the information about your device. The Touch Pro is designed with a sensor that detects the internal temperature of the device. Some circumstances may provoke the issue, such as:
  • Using GPS while driving (which requires a higher signal strength, due to vehicle movement)
  • Connecting to a Video Teleconference call (data traffic)
  • Using the device as a modem for prolonged periods of time (data traffic)
  • Using the device while charging.
In the event that the device overheats, the temperature sensor will trigger an auto-protection feature which disallows charging until the device is within operational temperatures. This is normal, and not considered a problem or defect with the device. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause you.
