So this is what the Touch Pro is supposed to be

Went and exchanged my touch pro at Best Buy (before my 30 day was up)last night and I am def. happier. The battery life on my other one was just terrible. Never really noticed the home key sticking up a little bit until I felt the new one. The build date on the new one is 12/22/08. It really does seem to be better over all. The hard keys seem to be much more responsive and it just seems to be snappier. I pulled it off the charger fully charged last night around 9pm central time and it just died on at 4:54pm. Way better than I was getting on the other one. Total talk time was 122minutes. The Data was at 6626 kilobytes and 628 kilobytes of texting. Feel a lot better about this phone now. With the other one I always just carried the charger in my pocket. I did have the batter yon the old one tested at the sprint store and they said it was fine.

I just got a Touch Pro to replace my Diamond and am WAY more impressed. I took my phone off the charger this morning at 5:30a, it is now 5:06p and I am at 60%. Well over 24 hours on the battery for me. Email checked every 15 minutes, 10 texts, about 75 mins. talk time, and browsing. Very, Very much happier then the diamond....Especially with Juggs. Rom!

Yeah, I had really really really bad battery life when I first got my tp. Trained the battery, no improvements. I finally broke down and bought Seidio's 1500 mAh. It's friggin great.

I'm way past my 30 day's, ordered mine the day they came out... I do have tep, any ideas on how to get a "better" one and not a refurb. These are buggy enough, not going to take any chances with a refurb unit. (my build date is 10/20/08 )

I don't think they are sending out referbs yet, reports I've read here have all stated that the replacements have been NIB. So if you hurry ...

Yeah cub good deal with being able to keep that stuff. I was thinking about taking mine back and getting a new one because of the battery life.

Re: So this is what the Touch Pro is supposed to be

So, the new builds don't have the button sticking up? I may have to get one. Also, I can't barely talk on my Pro without losing at least one bar of battery. I HAVE to take my charger with me everywhere. If I am going to use my phone at all, the battery is killed. It costs $50 to use my TEP, right?

Nope, the $50 is only if there is water or visible damage (like if you dropped or cracked it) Otherwise, if it's not working and they can't fix it it's free!

I've never seen a single refurb 6850 here in the store, so no trouble there.

I had one the day it was released and I 30-dayed it because of various issues. I finally just got a new one this week (Tuesday) and I must say, it physically feels better, is faster (but still delays while texting), and no raised home-key.

HTC must be tightening their manufacturing standards...

I'm going to go in this weekend and test my luck. $5 says I'll be the first to get a refurb. I just seem to be cursed with them...

Yeah, I got a good chuckle out of that. I figure worst comes to worst I'll just check the refurb status before I hand mine over and if it is a refurb throw it at them and run...

Re: So this is what the Touch Pro is supposed to be

lol... Ask them for your original Touch Pro back and let them keep the refurb...

Well, thankfully the newer builds are nicer. I don't know if they ever went through with the redesign of the Pro, but if they are going to I hope we'll get some news.

There was a rumor about HTC remaking the Pro... but I'm guessing they didn't follow through.

Yeah... Unless it was GSM vs. Sprint CDMA vs. Verizon CDMA?

Nope. It was redesigning the CDMA version aesthetically and fixing some hardware things. I'm trying to find the source.

Are you guys going through a repair store or regular store? Mine falls under the serial number range that had peeling chrome bezel. I also just sent it my MIR. Should I wait to get my rebate before I exchange. The rebate states that I need to have the phone active for atleast a month. If I swap phones, they might think it's been less that 1 month. Does anyone know if they base it on the serial number or the type of phone?

I don't think you'll have an issue with your rebate because it will show up as a replacement.

Most of us are going into stores that are also repair centers. You can find one using the tool on Sprint's site.

WHAT!?!?! You want to exchange your TP for a Blackberry?!? This should be an automatic shunning.

SHUN!!

EDIT:
UNSHUN.

I looked at this again and now assume you mean best buy. (Sorry, people have been going on about the crackberry here at work.) Just tell them it's not working right. You have friends and theirs work better...

ajskhan 01-23-2009 07:36 PM

Re: So this is what the Touch Pro is supposed to be

I appreciate the UNSHUN :) Yes sire I meant from Best Buy!

So they'll just do it without asking questions?
Sadly I have unlocked my phone and I am on a Jugallo rom... I assume that is problematic?

oddlou 01-23-2009 07:39 PM

Re: So this is what the Touch Pro is supposed to be

Reflash the original rom. You can find it on the upgrades page in the stickies.

Re: So this is what the Touch Pro is supposed to be

When you guys are talking about exchanging your phone out and not getting a refurb but a new phone, are you talking about HTC warranty service, best buy, or sprint store? HTC will RMA my phone but the company I send it to only does repairs apparently.

BigDiesel07 01-23-2009 07:43 PM

Re: So this is what the Touch Pro is supposed to be

Yes, it is ajs.. You will at least need to flash back to the stock ROM.. Re-locking is optional...

I'm talking TEP return through an authorized sprint repair center (usually also a sprint store). I should have a "new" phone in 3-4 days. I imagine there is a lot more paperwork and time involved to go through HTC, if they'll even take it. I think they usually referr you back to the carrier. At least they did when they were UTStarcomm.
