Possible to downgrade to WM6.0

Some of my work application is not compatible with the wm6.1, so is it possible to downgrade the Touch pro to WM6.0, i don't mind losing some of the new feature on the phone, thanks!

Oh yes it can sir! Seen it done more than once.

If I can get ahold of a SYS and XIP for WM6.0 I will do it. Anyone one know of a SYS folder and XIP I can grab? Obvioulsy has to 0409_wwe and VGA capable. If you know of one I will work on it for you.

I like 6.0 better than 6.1 plus its faster... Just like XP is faster than Vista.

But it does have even worse mem capabilities....

Here is an example of one program that will NOT work on any later builds of 6.1

Oxious Hibernate!!!!!

Doesnt work on 6.1 21109, 20954, even 19972, which I "believe" is the stock ROM build. Works great in 6.0 and early builds of 6.1.

If you can help me find sys and XIP. Someone has to have them for WWE_0409_VGA.

I will look around as I would like to do this as proof of concept. A couple did on the Titan. Its just finding the files I will need.

This would be the new hotness...I don't know anything about where to find XIP and sys though

This is pulled from the old(er) Uni kitchen.

edit: Blah! I can't seem to be able to post a link. My account is a bit messed up here. Anyhow, here is a direct and sloppy link: http://rapidshare.com/files/186441929/WinMo6XipSYS.zip.html

I need some help. I have never cooked without a payload file. Do you have a payload I can drop in? Or how do I conver the XIP Folder to a payload? Never done this before.

I will search tommorow if I dont see an answer.

Going to try a couple things now though....

EDIT: As I expected. This wont get done tonight..... I willneed to do a lot more reading ;c(

Re: Possible to downgrade to WM6.0

If you manage to get WM6 ported over remember one VERY VERY VERY ... oh ya, did I say VERY yet? ... important thing. You need to port the GPS services and drivers from WM6.1 or you'll be taking your device back to the stone ages so to speak.

jakdillard 01-20-2009 11:13 PM

Re: Possible to downgrade to WM6.0

the question is why would you want to port over a outdated os ? keep in mind that 6.0 wasn't even out for a year before you got 6.1 which now at its later builds has become much more stable if you just want to do this just for kicks .... ok but keep in mind that this device was designed around 6.1 so it may not be stable

WM 6.0, there are some that prefer it. stability wise.

If the xip folder has xip files in it, you run it throug bepe's buildxip program to make a xip partition. Once you have a xip partition, you insert it.

...and buildxip has bugs, so have fun :)

Re: Possible to downgrade to WM6.0

I will love to be a tester for this ... I have Touch Pro with 6.5 running. and loving it... but I really want 6.0 as some programs I use aren't 6.1 compat but for some reason works on 6.5.. rather wierd.

dont laugh,

I would make a nice donation for a WM5 rom , unfortunately for various nissan owners and infiniti owners, HTC BT is broken with the factory nav systems.

I feel certain if someone can get a WM5 base going they would be pleased with a few donations.

All one has to do is google and find out how frustrating this is.

Scott, WM5? possible with vga base

You could easily port WM5 to a TP if somebody had a VGA WM5 source. But we do not have WM5 drivers available and BT may not work at all. It would be doubtful that the WM6.1 BT drivers would work better in WM5.

nissan and microsoft point finger at each other. no progress

just a nasty work around that involves timing and pressing handset and then steering wheel phone button. Its ugly and its going to force me away from WM sooner than later

if you find a VGA WM5 source I am willing to build it, but testing is on you. and if it doesnt work it doesnt work, but ill give it a shot.

How could it be WM's fault when WM works on other cars?

I have a Kenwood DDX714 which is a pretty expensive stereo system that uses the Bluetooth by Parrot- and nearly all Parrot systems and Kenwood Bluetooth Audio Profiles don't work right with WM 6.1 or 6.5.
