How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
I tried searching but couldn't find anything. I just installed dashwire and I like using it for texting but if I reboot my phone dashwire always starts up which I don't like. I checked for options to stop startup in dashwire but didn't see it. Any idea on how to stop it from starting up?

Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
thank you, I found it and it was in there but everytime I delete it if I run dashwire again, it put's itself back in startup. I don't want to get rid of it, but I might have 2 if this is what it's going to do. How do I stop it from putting itself back in there?

Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
I love Dashwire...
If you open dashwire, Click the menu key, and then click settings, it will allow you to change from automatically sync to manual sync. You may have to stop any current syncs that may be occuring when you open it. Good Luck. |
Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
I usually move those items to the disabled start up folder and it works for me. As long as the file is there it doesnt start when the phone is turned on, only when the program is opened.

Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
I tried setting it to manual sync but then I have to press sync everytime which kinda defeats the purpose of the whole thing. If I don't press sync, nothing sends from the website and if I get a text it won't upload by itself set to manual. Where is the disabled startup folder? I didn't see it. If I set it back to auto-sync it goes back into startup folder after I delete it. Grrrr

Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
I have a similar problem, just the extra lag it creates at start up and it brings up Dashwire immediately. I don't really need it starting up on every start up... only when I am connected to the web via my PC i will start it.

If it doesn't work, then you could try pointing the Dashwire startup shortcut to a different program. Keep the same filename, just change it's target.

Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
It readds to windows/startup everytime it is started!

Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
I agree. I love Dashwire, but I had to revert to manual backups (and of course I always forget). If you don't, it just takes over the device at startup. I also tried removing it from the startup folder and it kept ending up right back in there at the next restart.

Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
Well when I am not at my computer, there is no need for it to eat up my battery uploading every picture, text, or new contact. So I'd rather it just by completely in sync when I start the program, but not on every start up.

Try this. It works great...I can Sync and it kills it after disconnect. Love it. If you want it to work with Active Sync only

Personally.. I manually sync the things I need... and then I never have to worry about it autostarting. Wiht the Auto Sync, it starts as soon as the Phone turns on and scans for changes as you make them. Then when it see's that you have an idle connection, it will auto sync. How do you honestly think that this program with do anything automatically if you dont first allow it to start? |

If you want something right away (and you are sorta technically inclined) you might be able to set dashwire up to do manual syncing and then create a mortscript that would check if you are plugged into power, if so do a manual dashwire sync. |
Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
Forgive me...I'm just a little confused as to specifically what type of syncing capabilities people were collectively looking for. ajskhan, were you looking for what apinkel suggested? A auto sync feature when the phone is plugged in via usb/power source? As for scheduled syncs, we've received feedback like such before. Definitely something we look to seriously consider in the near future. Were there any other sync capabilities people generally thought could be useful? Thanks

the sync when plugged in sounds ok, but sometimes data sessions generate too much heat so phone stops charging. (that would be bad) for this idea, it would be ideal to have the phone app communicate with the server, if the user is logged in/active on the site, the phone stays in autosync, otherwise just syncs and shuts down. I would still very much like to see scheduled syncs also along these lines, it would be nice to have command arguments for quick shortcuts/scripts; dashwire.exe -synconce, -manual, -autosync |

Just like shaggy said, command line switches would be ideal. You can add an option inside the program itself and maybe have all the arguments in a text file so we can add them manually if necessary. |
Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
Scheduled sync would be my preference.

Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
I think this whole thread is full of bad communication. :P
At least, what I get from the thread is that he doesn't want dashwire to start automatically with windows, but he wants it to still auto-sync when it is open. This way, he can manually open the app and have it autosync new items, then when he's done he can close the program and have the syncing stop. |

Not only that, But if it was something that was set up through thte program, then it would HAVE to start up when the phone turns on.How else will it monitor the clock and sync at your predetirmined schedule? Honestly... it just baffles me. When you open the program and its on manual sync... all you have to do is is hit the SYNC softkey on the bottom left ONE time... and it will sync what you want and when its dont it will say "in sync" and then you just close it. If it auto synced when you opened it... You would only be saving the 12ms that it takes to hit the softkey. Such a great FREE service... and people complain about having to press a single softkey..... *sigh |
Re: How do you stop startup programs? (dashwire)
Oh... and Mr Dashwire sir... If you are still listenting...
I just want to let you know, that when i save my texts to dashwire, it doesnt format the threading like the phone does. It puts all of the other persons on one side and then all of your replies. It does not show the back and forth dialog. Its not that big a deal, but if you want to be thorough... there ya go. Thanks for stopping. It shows alot about your company. Now if only I could convince my skitzo buddy that you werent trying to steal his information, you could have more people join. |

No need to negativity. I was stating an interpretation from what others stated, not what I want.
And just because something is free, you can't make it better? The developers themselves have some to ask us what we'd like to see. |
