Flash again or just restore using SPB Backup?

I bought a new Sprint Touch Pro, unlocked it and flash one of the custom ROMs that I found here on PPC Geeks. Then I installed a lot of software that were not present in the ROM and created a full backup using SPB Backup 2.0. Unfortunately then I found something on the phone for which I am going to go to the store and get my phone replaced tomorrow. Just wondering when I get the new phone tomorrow, can I simply install SPB Backup on it and restore?? or do I have to unlock and flash the ROM again?

You have to reflash. I've never used SPB backup but I don't believe any backup can "restore" a new ROM on any device.

Yeah you will probably have to reflash. I tried restoring a full backup from one TP to another and SPB Backup noticed a difference in the ROM. It then prompted me to use ROM compatibility mode (or something named similar) and then still let me do the restore. However on reboot the phone never got past the Touch Pro boot screen... I had to do a hard reset.

I have done this before.

You definitely have to unlock the new phone & flash to the same ROM you where using on the original phone (if possible)

After that, restore away & you will be back in business.

I don't think so either (SPB definitely can't & most of the time you wouldn't want it to)

Thank you so much for your replies. I'll reflash the phone and then use the restore, just as you asked me...
