Physically moving keys and remapping them on Verizon TP

I guess this is a difficult request/question but I'll really appreciate your thoughts. I am seriously considering Verizon TP but am really ticked off by the stupid keyboard layout (M key on the right of arrow keys, . on the left of space bar etc.). My questions are:

1. Can the keys be physically plucked out and put into desirable location? I want to move arrow keys to the right, M button to the left, . to the right of space bar and Enter one above where it is.

2. After the keys are physically moved, can they be remapped in ROM/software somehow? (I know this is doable on PC, maybe on the phone too?)

Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks.

Why not just buy the Sprint TP & port it to vz service?? That's what I did.

I've got to agree with John on this one. Why go through all that trouble of removing a key and placing it in a new location, when you can just buy a Sprint TP and put it on Verizon?

Thanks for the response guys. The problem is that the phone costs $579 without contract on Sprint (unless I do a contract and then break it which again is not worth it) and I'll get it for $270 with Verizon. Plus my account is through work (they pay the monthly bill but not the phone cost) so that adds an extra layer of complexity. That's why I wanted to just get it from Verizon and then make the changes myself. Oh well.

The keys are not individual, they're all tied together as part of the same keyboard overlay, so there isn't a "key" to move... you might be able to scrape off the silkscreening and re-mark the key, but that's about it.

I've been using my VZ Touch Pro since the release and don't even notice the M key location anymore. It's not like you're touch-typing on it anyway...

Exactly.

Although I have the Sprint version, a guy I work with has the xv6850 & I have used it a few times. IMHO, the vz KB is not half as bad as some of the "Sprint TP fanboys" like to claim it is.

I barely noticed the unusual key layout the first time I used it & it certainly wouldn't bother me if I used it every day.

For that matter, in some ways I actually like the 6850 KB better than mine. I have always thought the Sprintr TP keys where too small & too stiff.

Actually the thread from an actual or potential VZN user not a Sprint "fanboy"
So I don't think he is speaking from a Sprint-point-of-View at all.

I wasn't talking about any one particular poster, just the posters that continuosly slam the xv6850 over & over & over.........

Obviously, I like the Sprint version better but if I had to use the 6850 for insurance or work reasons I would be just fine with it.
