Sprint HTC Pro won't Connect to Data while Roaming
 

Hi,
I have had a Moto Q9C for over a year.
I live in a Roam area and my Moto always recieved data, internet and email no problem while roaming.

I just activated a HTC Touch Pro today and it wont connect to data.

My Roam Guard setting is "Never Ask", "Allow Roaming".....thats the way my Moto was set up.

After an hour or so on the phone with Sprint tech, they have no explanation other than while roaming its not on a Sprint network and not their problem.


Can anyone help with solution?

Here is a suggestion for ya:
Locate the Roam only cab,install and u should be good to go. I data roam on Verizon at times 1x better than nuttin

I had the same problem with the Mogul after I installed a new ROM. You'll need to speak with a sprint rep higher up the chain in technical support to get this fixed. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what they did. You might find the answer if you do a search on the Mogul forum.

U sayin Sprint tech is better than ppcgeek, hell na, they have access to our settings and so forth that is true but other than that, lemme find u the roam only cab

Hi,
Thanks so much.

Unfortunately I am not a techy and really dont understand.

Can you provide a laymans menu of what the problem is and what the specific steps are to resolve?

Again.......my internet/ email, etc is no problem while on the Sprint network.
When I'm roaming it wont connect.


A window pops up "cannot Connect" dialed #777, cannot connect for unkown reason.

When roaming try to dial a wrong number, you will of course get an error message and you will find out what carrier you are roaming on. This is just o find out if data roaming is an option. You will still need to dowload the ROAM ONLY CAB, as you would any other can, run it and you will gain a new option under your settings/phone/ that will give you an option to ROAM ONLY. Did you locate the cab yet?

Would it be too much trouble to detail exactly what steps I have to take to get this program installed on my phone.

You are ok man, no worries. Dowload the cab I pointed you to to your desktop (know where it is). Connect your TP via usb to your desktop/laptop, check disk drive for faster transfer. Now right click on the "roam only cab" on your desktop hit copy. Go to my computer, find the TP , usually it is caled "F storage" or something like that. Open it you should see the content of your TP, once there ,right click and paste. Roam only cab should be in your TP now. Turn off screen on TP, close TP on your desktop/laptop, tuen on your TP again, find under program/File explorer. Open it, point it to your memory car/find the Roam only cab, double click it , it should self install...soft reset

I am having the same problem. I already have the Roam Only option on my phone, I did it manually by editing the registry. While roaming, voice works perfect but data won't work at all. Both 1x and EVDO don't work for me. And I honestly don't remember if data roaming worked before I did the roam only hack.

I experience the inability to data roam, I did not make any changes, it picked up again. There is a possibility that it could be Verizon or whomever prob

I started playing with it and theres actually a simple solution. Go to the roaming setting and under data roam guard make sure allow roaming is checked. I can't believe this didnt occur to me earlier.

That definitely needs to be checked, but w/o the Roam only can you can not force TP to roam only. Congrats on getting it it to work

I assumed that power play, in his case he ws missing that setting, so good for him.Again, w/o the cab, you do not have the roam only option..so that is a must, btw were u able to install the cab?

i have the software on my desktop and connected it to the phone and changed the usb transfer rate, but i dont know how to get the program on the phone.............

Well if your TP is connected you should see it in your computer (under my computer) if that is the case just right click and copy the Roam only cab on your pc/laptop and drop it on your TP showing on your computer/laptop, lemme ask you this, is your email set up in you TP? if so, go ahead and email the cab to your self from your computer and I will walk you through the rest, if not we can phone support u to get that resolved..

I'm the guy that started the thread since I could not receive data while roaming ever since I got the phone.
In addition I could not make a call as I got a message saying "verizon could not authenticate your phone"

After 5 weeks of speaking with dozens and dozens of sprint techs, a tech this morning said she did something to re-authenticate my phone.

Now to my surprise data works fine while roaming.

I have no force roam stuff on the phone. My setting is just on automatic........

I hope this may have helped someone.....

some of the custom roms I download do not have the Data Allow Roaming option in Phone, Options, Network Services.........anybody know what registry tweak to do to allow data roaming?
