:::Best Buy::: Checking Phone's build date before buying/swapping?

So.... I just got another Touch Pro from my Best Buy... Only to find the build date is 11/24/08 only 3 days newer than my previous one.

Pretty ticked off... Going to swap it in again tomorrow.

As for swapping, do I have to swap it at the Best Buy I bought it at, or can I bring it into another Best Buy?

Is there a way I can check the build date before all the set-up stuff? This way this will be the LAST time I walk in and swap it.

any best buy i think... i would recommend seeing if ur sprint store has it in as those would be newest. Just ask the guy hey can i check that one out real quick.

You can return it to any Best Buy to swap it out. And if they say otherwise, they are lying. I know.

um, are you swapping just for the sake of getting the newest build... or is there actually something wrong with all these pros you're returning. you shouldn't expect to get a january build if that's what you're thinking... i bought a diamond and pro from best buy in mid december and got build dates from late august and late october. having the latest build doesnt necessarily mean you're going to have the best pro. all my pros and diamond are early builds and they're fine.
The way you say "only to find the build date is 11/24" and "will be the last time i walk in and swap it" just makes it sound like all you care about is the date and you're not actually checking for defects... like having a december date is going to be full proof or something. if that's how you're approaching these exchanges, then i am speechless...

Not trying to hurt any feelings but I got mine off ebay and it arrived 2 Jan with a build date of 12 Dec 08. The guy even shipped it in a Sprint store bag. I was stoked. I thought for sure it would have an OCt or early Nov date.

I thought I was the only one that found this post disturbing and pretty petty. Why would you exchange it only because of the build date?

You can find out the build date by dialing ##786#. They should let you do it before buying the phone.

WHY are you returning your phones? The phones do not expire, and do not have a sell by date, so it is not like they are selling you spoiled goods...

I say get over yourself, and see if the phone you have works. If it does not, please excuse us for getting in your kool-aid since you were not telling us what flavor you are drinking...

My Nov 24 replacement phone was the one with the ****ed up screen. That replaced an October build phone with cracked chrome. The replacement they sent for the one with screen issues was Nov 5 build and works great.

I agree that you shouldn't be swapping looking for a newer build, unless you actually have problems. If you get a good phone, keep it. It's the idiots who keep swapping for no reason that made it so I had to wait a month on a backorder list to get a phone that worked right.

I have an 11/8/08 date which is totally better than my first dropped October device. The keyboard is all the way lit and the space bar works much better.

I do have to agree. This posted is a bit weird. I highly doubt they replace it because of the date code.
