TP screen turns on by itself.

Hi there gang,

Over the past month or so my TP would turn on all by itself. I would expect this to happen with an alert, notification, email or new text msg but there is nothing.

I'll be surfing/gaming at night with the TP sitting on my desk when all of a sudden the screen turns on but no new actions of any type. It just turns on, then won't turn off like the settings I have set say to do on battery power after lets say 1 minute.

I check Application Mgr and the only thing running is ActiveStink. I would expect this to run during the scheduled times of 8-6pm every 2 hours, but not at 10:30pm or 4am.

The other night I was charging it on my nightstand and my wife woke up and asked me what the glow on the ceiling was. I looked and my TP was wide awake.

What is this possessed phone doing?

The same thing the mogul was doin' ... I dislike it myself. It hurts the battery life as well. I wish there were a fix for it.

mine did this while i was in san diego recently, but as soon as i got back home it no longer did it. so, perhaps whatever it's doing is regional..?

Mine started doing this as well - the only way to fix it that I have found is to do a soft reset. Once I did that, it didn't seem to have that problem again (for awhile). It has only happened a few times since I started doing a soft reset.

btw, this started happening with no applications open or anything. Odd stuff, but at least soft reset fixes it!

i've heard that the phone turns on when it switches from 1x to evdo. i've had this problem on my phone too. its annoying. i installed s2u2 though, so at least my phone won't randomly be starting up tomtom, searching for a police station, and calling them repeatedly anymore..

I see this happening less ever since I installed a .cab to kill active sync unless connected to a PC. You may want to give that a shot. I believe it's called async killer by elias.

Seems like all Windows Mobile devices do this.

I haven't heard of a definite fix yet.

And yes, it's pretty annoying.

Sometimes it might come back on 15 seconds after I turn it off 3 times in a row. If I then soft reset, it doesn't happen again for a while.

My previous two WM devices did not do that. :(
