Happy new year all, sorry if this is a hijack, but it's kinda related. I've been trying to track down the screen rez for our phones, but apparently my search-fu is weak, HTC's site says they rez is 4x the rez of most phones, but nothing more. I tried using the divx encoder prog listed under useful apps, but the results were less than spectacular. When I tried copying files straight from my hdd to the phone, it appeared that the phone's ram would fill up after 10 seconds causing skipping during playback with 1+ gig files. I think I could resolve this using super C if only I could track down the exact resolution of the screen on the touch pro, any ideas?

Check the youtube hd playback thread. The cab for the media player tcmp and codec for ac3 are both there. It will play your ac3 files. From what I have seen in other threads the tcmp is an early free version of coreplayer and since they dont charge for it they are able to allow the ac3 playback. Since they charge for coreplayer they have to pay for the right to use ac3 in coreplayer and left it out.

I use 480x272 for my DVD converting.
Works good with little of no stuttering. Sometimes the voices fall out of sync by a touch.
I use CloneDVDMobile. They play in Core.

Re: xvid movie player playing files with ac3 audio

I was reading another thread (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49998) about video playback on the TP. I just started using Super © (http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html) to convert my videos (divx, AC3, etc..) to work with Core Player. I also used it to adjust some the resolution on some of my videos. The program works great, although I can't seem to be able to successfully convert .mkv videos. It seems to skip a lot.

I've also been using TCPMP occasionally since it isn't bound by codec licensing as Core Player is. :(

EDIT: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I heard that you can use the TCPMP plugins in coreplayer, is that true?

Going a little off topic.
I converted a video earlier using CloneDVD Mobile.
I tried the Divx player and it looked a little "blurry" especially with the opening credits.
The same video in Core is very clear.

I like free solutions and maybe it's an acceptable trade off but it's there.

It was converted using the default Xvid settings at 480x272.
Not sure of the bitrate I'd have to check if any one was interested.
