better audio with a covered speaker
Okay, while playing video with the TP (I would assume audio only files would be no different, but I havent tried).. I noticed that when I cover the speaker with my finger, the range of frequencies (because of the sound being directed back into the device and not out to the side or the top) is alot more audible and the quality of sound increases dramatically.
Can anyone else try this and confirm..? |
Re: better audio with a covered speaker
I always put my hand on it to redirect the sound..If that helps any.

Re: better audio with a covered speaker
Sure does! Thanks for verifying. Now I know its not all in my head.
Its a great tip too, given how much it improves the audio. Hope more people find this useful.. |
Re: better audio with a covered speaker
I noticed that too! I though I was the only one that noticed a difference so I didnt say anything.

Re: better audio with a covered speaker
Im wondering if it would be a practical solution to find a way to cover the speaker at all times.
Only thing I can think of right now is a small strip of electrical tape.. hmm |
Re: better audio with a covered speaker
It makes it sound more "surround" to me.

Re: better audio with a covered speaker
^ Exactly, because the sound is now being projected more from the center of the device rather than out of the top or out of the side (which is away from your ears)
Makes me wonder why they didnt pick up on this old concept during development.. the samsung A720 utilized this idea with a small pinhole speaker port on the bottom of the unit for external sound that was meant to be covered while the phone was standing up during playback. Made the audio sound very full and loud. |

lol, dont know about yall but i dont want anything else to make this thing any bigger or heavier |
Re: better audio with a covered speaker
I tried a small piece of electrical tape over the speaker. Definitely reduces the tinny sound that was there originally. May cut off a bit too much of the higher frequency content, but I think it may be worth it. I like to set my phone down and listen to tunes while I am working on projects around the house, and I think it sounds better with the tape in place.

Re: better audio with a covered speaker
Sometimes, I hold the speaker up close to my mouth and move my mouth around to make it sound like a whammy bar.

Re: better audio with a covered speaker
Duct tape, fixes everything.

Re: better audio with a covered speaker
Why the hell am I the only one doesn't understand the first post. Which speaker is being covered? Loud or ear speaker during normal or speakerphone calls?

Have anyone tried lowering the volume? I get the same effect by dropping the volume a bit.

Re: better audio with a covered speaker
Oh, I thought that this was during calls. During music at sound better but a little lower.
Try holding the phone from the top, wrapping your finger around the the whole back. This increases the quality and keeps the level. |
