SlingPlayer Mobile for WinMo adds new resolutions

http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/12/23...tions-devices/

"SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Mobile up to snuff for the latest round of devices finding their way into pockets as of late. Notably, the app supports several new resolutions -- 800x480, 640x480, 400x240, and 320x320 -- and a whole host of new phones, including the AT&T Fuze, Sprint / Verizon Touch Pro, and the Samsung Epix, among eleven others. The update is available immediately."

I would love to see how good this looks on the TP screen? How much bandwidth is needed for a steady stream for the higher resolution. Thanks in advance :)

i updated and it doesn't allow me to change resolution from 240x320 to 480x640 in the settings. Isn't that what this update was supposed to do? In fact, I don't see any different settings... Perhaps engadget just got overly excited that they added the touch pro/fuze/hd to the compatibility list, even though they were already compatible? If i'm missing something, let me know. lateR.

No, the update supports higher resolution devices. That doesn't mean the resolution setting in the slingplayer software will be higher. There is reason they only have certain resolutions available to you in the software... network bandwidth!

The software has some improvements but it is mostly a new release to officially support a bunch of new devices including the touch pro.

It already supported the touch pro from day one... I've been using it almost every day. I think engadget just never tried it and then saw that slingmedia.com updated their support list... concluding that it wasn't supported before...

I agree. I've used SP with my TP since last month. I haven't seen any changes in quality. In fact, I don't remember seeing a software upgrade, either.

My max available resolution is 320X240.

I would say that the SP on my TP is *identical* to the picture I was getting on my 6700.

Actually, I notice that I'm now able to get 25+ FPS, when before, I was only getting 10-15. So, that is a noticeable improvement, at least for me.

Max FPS I'm getting is 28-29. It really depends on phone's signal strength, and your home ISP's upload.
