ActiveSync Will Not Work!

I just got back from Alltel, plugged my device in and got ready for a night of modding. It synced up within the first 30 seconds, recognized the device and opened exactly like it should. I was able to transfer one file (MS Compact .NET Framework 3.5) before the connection died. I unplugged it, plugged it back in again and it synced up, recognized again. I managed to put a 'WeatherCitiesCustomizer.CAB' file on my phone before the connection dropped again.

As it stands now, I plug the phone in, it makes the "connected" sound and nothing. It just shows the 'Charging Icon' on my phone and it says "Not Connected" in ActiveSync. I reset both my phone and my computer, but nothing.

What is going on? Did I get a defective phone? Did I mess something up? Anyone have any idea on this one? Is a hard-reset in order?

try going to settings > connnections > usb to pc > and UNCHECK "enable advanced network functionality," this works for me every time activesync doesn't want to connect.

Just did that, soft reset, plugged it in and nothing. I'm gonna try a hard reset in the mean time, but any other ideas??

No hard reset needed dude, may be reboot your PC will do, or remove partnership and recreate it, make sure active sync is selected on the TP not storage card..xp or vista?

Well a hard rest should fix it if it's something the phone did. Since you just got your phone, that could be a quick fix for you. Maybe it's on your PC side though... You probably checked already, but if you didn't... make sure you have open activesync on connect - under File > connection settings on your PC. And as hbenz suggested, make sure activesync is selected (not storage) in the same place where you unchecked advanced networking. Goodluck.

Well here's the latest:

I DID, in fact, hard reset my phone. It reinstalled everything like it does on a fresh boot, then I plugged it in... and it worked. It's been connected or a solid 5 minutes now so I'm optimistic. Maybe I DIDN'T get a lemon!

The question now is: What caused it? Is there a known bug in the compact .NET 3.5 framework? I'm not going to install that and I'll leave the weather alone for now (as a sidenote - anyway to fix weather without updating the framework?). But I just want to make sure I don't get 6 hours into modding this beautiful little machine and have it all ruined by ActiveSync.

Make sure you get a back up solution: Spb back up/sprite back up/resco back up. Active sync is a bit fussy but wont phuk up your TP...

It's not .NET CF 3.5, we all have that installed here... it's needed for many games/apps. I doubt you have a lemon based on activesync not connecting alone (unless your usb port is mangled ha)
Try installing the weathercitiescustomizer.cab again and see if it causes the problem...

I had an issue with Active Sync not syncing properly.. I ended up re-installing it and it was fine afterwards...
