major WIFI woes
ok, this is my first post as a TP user (just buried my old 6700, it was a good 2 years...).
I'm having the strangest experience trying to get my TP to connect with my simple and stupid dlink router (an ol' 802.11b one). I have NO security enabled, but i DO use MAC filtering. I have of course added my TP's MAC address to the "allowed" table just like my other computer clients. The TP is able to connect to the router, it gets an IP (which I have manually assigned), but it CANNOT browse the web. It has NO net connectivity through WIFI. I tried a manual channel assignment (like 6 and 12), or even "auto scan", but no setting would make a difference. It does connect, but no net browsing. My 6700 never had this issue, it used to connect just fine and everytime. What makes this more strage is that I CAN connect to my neighbor's router with my TP and browse the web just dandy on his network. As for why my TP won't connect through my dlink router is beyond me. I did disable MAC filtering for a few mintues, but no luck, the TP would get the IP address but will have no internet connectivity. Any ideas???? I am totally clueless at this point....Smells like a DNS issue with my phone...I did try putting in some comcast DNS numbers, but same result... |
