Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

i hate to say the same...i love the pro and the ideas and potential behind it but it seems as if HTC has no quality control anymore and theyre just popping new phones out every few months thinking that it will satisfy everyones needs.... i am on my 7th pro since just after xmas i think...and i need a new one alread...yeah im a lil rough on my phone but not hard enough for the to keep having to be replaced once a month

Well my first and second pro did the same thing and I just got my third pro yesterday. Its a refurb but it looks brand new, the only thing is the speaker on the phone sounds like its busted so I have to use my bluetooth headset in the mean time. I am so sad right now, I really love the pro but I am having more problems with this compared to my mogul.

Same here. Just started to notice that same oily looking thing. Thought it was under the screen protector.....but it's not. I may try the online Sprint exchange option, but I'm afraid I won't be happy with the refurb that I will get. HMMMMMmmmmm........

This is my 3rd TP with this problem

both times before I have exchanged it; it was a nightmare.

They said "nothing is wrong with it, every touch screen phone does this, you can not use your insurance you are paying for to fix the problem"

had to drive 35 mins to a sprint store that was willing to swap it out.

both times......

now it has happened again... I dropped the insurance since it seemed pointless, and the downpay went up to 100 bones

is it sprints problem for not addressing the issue, or HTCs for lack in quality control lately... not sure.

ugh, this just happened to my phone a couple days ago. At first it was a rainbow spot like 5mm wide, and the next day it became a rectangle about 1" by 2" large.

I just noticed the exact same thing. I have a rainbow rectangle about 1"x2" wide right in the middle of the screen. :(

I had the same problem with my VZW TP about 2 weeks ago. started with a small rectangle on friday. The touch screen still worked. On Saturday evening it was a 1.5"x2.5" rectangle and the touch screen stopped working all together. You don't realize how much you use the touch screen til you don't have access to the start button or the soft buttons any longer. I had to explain it to a couple techs before I finally got them to send me a rplacement. They said it was going to be a refurb but a NIB TP showed up a couple days later.

That doesn't mean it's really a new phone. They repackage the refurbs. From your dialer, hit ##778# (at least that's what it is for Sprint). This will bring you to the ESPT screen. Go to View and there will be 2 lines for Refurb. One to tell if it was refurbed and the other for the date it was refurbed. This is the only real way to know.

Re: UPDATE:Rainbow looking circle

there are rumors that the TP has already been discontinued, at least according to best buy inventory. If that's true, NIB TouchPros might become rarer and rarer.

Can we set up some sort of a petition to send to Sprint about this? Its getting more and more of an issue for an expensive phone.

For Verizon, it's just ##778 without the last #. The Refurb status is No, and there is "no data" in the refurb date row, aswll as the mnfg. date of January 16 2009. I think it's a new one.
