Internet keeps connecting when phone not in use
 

Hey all, did a bit of a search here and with google and cant find the reason for this.

My internet connection keeps connecting on my phone whenever I'm not using it. I've already disabled the weather auto-update so it isnt that. I've also made it so windows update is manual only.

I got a brief error yesterday about there not being a phone number argument for some url, but unfortunately I was laying in bed and didnt get it copied down.

Any way to prevent it from connecting to the net? Its killing my battery power when I'm not even using it.

I don't think there is a way to prevent it from connecting temporarily. I know there is a .cab floating around that will disable data altogether but I doubt you want that.

I'm not exactly sure why you can't prevent data from accessing information. I've noticed that in comm manager, even if I turn off Data it just turns right back on. Kind of annoying but oh well.

Do you have it set to check your email every so often?

Nope, not checking email every so often, dont even have an email account set up on it yet. And nope I dont want to disable it.

I think the error it gave me had something to do with a welcome call. This is on Sprint if it matters, just got the phone on Sunday.

Did the message say something about going to a website and gave you a link?

I experienced that when I first got my phone. It had something to do with pocketexpress. Once I visited the website, I stopped getting the message every morning.

Yes, it had a link. I guess I'll check out pocket express, I dont even know what it is.

It is sorta of an all in one homepage on your TP. you can get news/movie times/sports news/ weather/ etc. It is actually a pretty cool app but I hear it eventually expires and you must subscribe to keep using it.

I believe all I did was log in on the website and it that was it.

Just opened up that app, it had an auto-update set for every 4 hours, I set it to never. That may have been it. Thanks

Also check to make sure your weather tab on your home screen is not auto-updating.
