Ok so i hate calling sprint tech support, so i called the closes thing to it, Blasphemous_prime! lol

I've searched and found nothing relating to the Pro, but i'm sure this is a repeat of all other data issues...

here is what worked with me the FIRST time around:

1. Get your MSL code using BAF MSL Grabber: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=43560 and write it down

2. type ##3282# (##DATA#) in your phone pad

3. Hit Edit and type in your MSL

4. there are 4 lines to look for:
to edit one, tap n hold, select edit. Just to be safe, write down the old one!
- ACTIVE PROFILE - which is probably 0 but should be set to 1(i had to do this)
- USERNAME - which should be ur sprint email address xxxxx@sprintpcs.com.
- HA SHARED SECRET(Hex) - this should say "secret" and leave it that way
- AAA SHARED SECRET(Hex) - this was my password (pin) i use with sprint customer service. My old pin/password was in there, so i changed that to the what i recently changed it to a few days prior.

5. Hit OK at the top right corner, it'll ask you to update, hit yes, it'll ask to reboot and say ok.

6. After your phone reboots, go into Start>Settings>System and hit Update Profile... your profile should successfully update and you will now have DATA!!!

Yeah man, I had similiar issues with my data to the point where I went without it for a whole weekend and then some until I stopped at a Sprint store in the mall i sometimes go to. I called tech support and told them that the issues weren't related to any kind of tower issues in my area at all. LOL. And all I did was followed their instructions the last time I told them about the issue pertaining to this, and they basically told me what to set up, so I took notes from there and voila! Problem solved. And before you edit anything on your Pros, Baffles MSL Grabber is your best friend as well. Big up to him too for saving us the time and effort to get over the top of the obstacle.

if its blank, you must enter the pin/password that sprint customer service always asks you for

Hm, this did not work. Still getting error code 1012 when trying to update the profile. I am currently stuck on roam - would this cause me not to be able to update the profile? Data worked fine prior on roam and now I am without data for the last few hours. I am here for the next 5 days on business and no data would not be good.

So, does this fix the error code 1012 that I get when trying to update my PRL or my Profile?? I have "data" for internet and such... Just can't update the PRL or Profile under settings?

Put "4D2" as those 2 values.

I did everything in the OP and it still didn't work so I called in and a tech helped me. He told me to do everything in the OP INCLUDING those 2 steps above. Worked like a charm.

The "updating PRL" sometimes doesn't work (never worked once for me) and is just doing everything the OP said. If it doesn't work though you can go in and do it manually input all the fields. Hope that helps. GOOD LUCK!

Is this from a problem of the data just not working? Like stopping or such? Ive honestly never had that problem...Maybe its just my area lol

New twist on the old "No Data" problem
 

Last week, my data connection stopped working SOMETIMES.

It works first thing in the morning after powering back on. Keeps working for an hour or so. Then, one of the internal programs tries to connect and can't do it. Recurring "Can't connect for an unknown reason" notifications pop on. The program tries and tries to connect. And can't. Phone heats up. Battery drains. It's not a location issue because I am using the phone in the same place (even the same room) most of the time.
I tried the ##3282# fix in post #1.
The password (AAA-secret) on the page was not my pin number. When I changed the setting, I lost even the sometimes connection and could not data connect at all--even after a power-down and wakeup. So I changed it back to Sprint's secret word.
Then I called Sprint. We did the ##3282# routine and couldn't get a successful profile update confirmation. We tried a couple of other things unsuccessfully. The TR went away for a few minutes. When he came back, the answer was to do a hard reset.
Which I did. Data connection worked perfectly after it and also after my Sprite Restore.
Next morning though, same deal. Worked at first after powering on. Then stopped when one of the internal programs tried to connect automatically an hour or two later.
Called Sprint again, yesterday. This time their solution was a phone exchange.
A new TP is coming next week.
Meanwhile, the data connection still works SOMETIMES. I tracked the internal program triggering the issue down to Windows Live, checking for mail updates. I haven't installed any new data-requiring apps for 3 weeks and the problem is just 1 week old.

Unless anyone has any ideas (if they had the patience to read this whole long thing--lol), I am assuming the new phone will solve everything. Unless it doesn't. In which case, I'll report back.
I just hadn't seen this particular piece of this problem show up before. Thought someone might be interested.

I've typed the #3282# in the dialer, but I can't find anything that says edit.

beginning of the code. Then you will
see the option to edit.

you'll need to search for a dcd carrier .cab file to get the codes

that 777 error message.............try going to Start, Settings, Connections.......edit the info for #777, just re-enter your username and password and see if that works

I already have the carrier .cab. I called CS and they told me our service area is being updated and that's why I have no data. If that's true, it should be working later on... will update!

I take it we just simply cant drop the rom file on a sd card and install and be done with it lik any other.

This is not working for me. I have been thru Sprint support for hours.

I have tried the ##3282# stuff, but still an error 1012. The app to get the MSID failed, but I did remember a number for the "unlock code" and am able to get into the settings, so I guess thats the MSID.

I have tried updating the profile and manually doing the restore 100x it seems, but nothing gets past error 1012. I have also done these miles apart, up to 75 miles away.

Any ideas? I have the TP2 with Sprint WM 6.5 ROM.
