Using RDP (Remote Desktop) on a Touch Pro Feedback

I am thinking about a Touch Pro and want to have RDP capability. I know there are some cabs out there that work for this process - but is it really a workable (productive) solution? I need to be able to open a few programs to kick off some services and move files from one folder to another, etc. Can you actually do some work on the server from the TP screen?

Remote Desktop, right?

Yes, it's amazing. Because of the screen being VGA it just sets the computer res to 640x480 so there is no scrolling, you're always seeing the full screen. I use this all the time, mostly to start downloading TV shows if I'm away from my house so I can watch them when I get home.

Only problem is that some programs don't cooperate with 640x480 resolution, so it can be tough depending on which program.

I just use the included RDP program that was stock on the ROM. Its funny this was posted, I was at a Dr. appt and I do home networking for people and my Dr wanted ideas of what you could do. So I pulled out my phone and RDP to my home desktop showing him how quick the connection was. Opened Outlook, checked my email (Even though you can do it from the TP). Then opened ORB and showed him how you can route your cable over the internet to watch on the phone.. Lets just say he's got me networking his home PC's now he was impressed... All thanks to the abilities of the TP.

Yeah, I use it frequently and it works brilliantly. I strongly recommend using it. The VGA makes it.

Yeah the VGA is great, especially in the Stock RDP if you turn it to True Color in the options. I fooled a guy the other day and told him my TP ran Windows XP... He believed me until I told him what it was.

Are you trying to run it over wi-fi on the same router as your machines, or over Sprint's internet?

If you are on the same router, you will probably need to use the IP instead for your connection.

I found the Installer cab on here a while back. Can't remember what thread...and apparently I didn't save it ot the \Cabs\ folder on my SD card.

What if your computer is connected to a router? How can you get around it?

If its your home computer , set up Hamachi vpn, then you won't have to forward ports and all that. The hamachi ppc client is a little buggy tho, but gets the job done.

I love the built in RDP I just wish I could zoom in just one level. I need glasses I know.
