memory card transfer rate benchmark!

aight so i just got my 8gig class 6 card from newegg and i wanted to see how much faster it was going to be over my stock 1gig card from the touch pro....

well IT ISNT FASTER! lol what a waste... well atleast i got more space here are the benches... keep in mind i had to format these cards to ntfs so i can run the benchmark and they are connected to my pc through a usb memory card reader

here is the stock card

16.99 for 8gig is hardly a waste.

I spent 23 bucks for 4 gigs at circuitcity lol. I hate waiting.

yea well i thought the stock card would be a crappy card or something so i thought buying a class 6 would be a huge upgrade

oh well atleast i have more space... (not that ill ever use over 1 gig anyways)

i dont think the processor can utilize the speed anyway can it

Re: memory card transfer rate benchmark!

what brand was the 8gb? I have heard of problems with many cards and planned to go sandisk myself, though if there isnt really much difference with classes....i will save money for a lower class

do you suppose it could be like car audio and some companies are exagerating the class speeds?

i dont know about the company exagerating the class speed but the brand is transcend....now that i think about it that may be my problem! lol

can anyone with a different brand memory card run the benchmark and post your results?

I ordered a Transcend 8gb Microsdhc Class 6 from newegg last week, received the order on monday and immediately uploaded Zac and Miri make a porno. The movie was fine so I then decided to upload unto the card Lord of the Ring. The movie was very slow but the audio sounded fine. I messed around with some TCMP settings like the AV+- but the video was too slow. Was it the card or was it the video file?

p.s. the video file was a divx and it was 800mb. 720X480.

if i trolled this topic, my bads!

try 320x240 it will play way better.... and as far as the cad read speed, i dont think that the phones processer can read that fast try using the same test to a card reader and see if that makes a difference

Re: memory card transfer rate benchmark!

it couldve been the cards speed if its a high quality video the cards speeds arent fast enough to get all that info out...

but like rdd said maybe the cpu isnt fast enough...

the reason i bought this card was because when i had my instinct a faster card made a huge difference in the pic loading speeds so i figured i might have the same effect with music and pics on the TP

Re: memory card transfer rate benchmark!

I'll convert the Lord of the Ring movie to another format and lower screen size and bitrate to see if it'll get any better on tcmp.

thanks for the tips.
