Re: Cannot Modify \\windows\... files with Total Commander
This thread will help with the icon changing issues:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=44293 Also I've found that Resco, Total Commander , etc.... will not always allow you to make modifications into the windows directory. They only way I've been able to do it is to use Active Sync or Windows Mobile Device Center. You can just drop items into the windows directory with no problems. Hope this helps. EDIT: do all of the steps called out in that thread, but when it comes time to use Total Commander , use Active Sync to move the file to the Windows directory. Make sure on your computer, choose any folder, then got TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS, > CLICK THE VIEW TAB > and check the box that says SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS. If you dont do that, you cant see the windows for on you device (this is the way to see it for XP. let me know if you need the way for Vista) |
Re: Cannot Modify \\windows\... files with Total Commander
i found that if i didnt rename the old file in the windows directory and just copied the new file (and overwrited the older file) it would work. i got frustrated because TC wouldnt let me rename files as well...and i figured i never would want those old file again so i just copied over them.

Re: Cannot Modify \\windows\... files with Total Commander
One thing I noticed using TC is that it does rename the file, but it looks like it doesn't. So I rename the file, then just go browse out to the file I want to copy to windows dir, tap it and hold, choose copy/move, tap tree, tap windows......and it copies file without prompting an over-write.
Hope that helps. |
