How to keep e-mail on the server
Hi, need some help with touch pro e-mail settings. I want to keep a copy of the e-mail on the server (gmail). I have set it up on gmail settings to keep a copy if accessed through POP. But on the touch pro, the only option I have if I delete a message is to "send to server trash" or "delete off server". Isn't there an option where I can keep the email on the server because after I delete the email from my phone and check my email online, the messages are on gmail "deleted messages" label (this label, I guess, was automatically created, not by me), it's not on trash, but it's not on my inbox which is where I want to see it. Any help highly appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: How to keep e-mail on the server
You may find imap is a better option than pop.
But, if you use POP, make sure the POP settings on gmail is : When messages are accessed with POP "Keep copy on server." |

Re: How to keep e-mail on the server
I use imap for my gmail on my touch. I can check my mail from my phone and they mail is still there and then downloads to outlook when I get home on my laptop. Or check it via web the messages are still in the inbox.

This is the path where I check to change the options Mail-->Menu-->Account--->Options--->Send/Receive Schedule-->Advanced Settings--->When deleting messages: the only options I get are the 2 listed above, I know for the mogul there is an option to keep mail in server or something similar. Not in here, and now even though on the server I have it set up to keep mail in inbox when used via POP, it still sends the mail to a "deleted messages" folder and disappear from my inbox and I have to put it back in the inbox if I want for it to be there. |

My IMAP setting on gmail are on the pic below, plus you can see the "deleted items" label on the left. |
Re: How to keep e-mail on the server
You will need to find the advanced settings on the mail client for the phone. I got rid of my phone so I am limited, but I did have it the way you are talking about.

Re: How to keep e-mail on the server
I am using IMAP IDLE with Flexmail for gmail access on my phone...IMAP IDLE basically allows you true push email capability, akin to BB service...when I delete from my phone, I don't get the "deleted items" tag...I used to before flexmail if I recall...now when I delete from phone, the messages are deleted from inbox, but are in my "all mail" folder within gmail, without any particular label attached to them...ie they do not go to the trash...they are merely archived...

For some reason, the Titan/Mogul/xz xv6800 gives you the "don't delete from the server" option. The TouchPro does not have that option for some reason (all mine says also is "move to server trash") ~John |
Re: How to keep e-mail on the server
Mello, Here is what you need to do, delete the account off of your phone. Setup the new account and where is asks for your email address on the first screen type in whatever your email address is @mail.com. Leave out the g in gmail at this point. Then follow the setup until it asks for the incoming and outgoing servers, then put in gmails information. Then under advanced it will give you the option to keep on server. When it asks for the username and password for the second time, thats when you put in the correct email address and password. That should work for you, just created a gmail account and tested it.
