All in one instant messenger?

I have used Jivetalk on my HTC Fuze (GSM version of the touch) but it turns out the program causes extreme battery draining (about 10% per hour!!!). Without Jivetalk on, well its been 17 hours and im at 17%, with jivetalk on, 10% per hour from jivetalk, plus other various usage such as talking or browsing the internet... you do the math.

I dont think a instant messaging program should drain that much power. Therefore, i am looking for an instant messenger with the function to set status (like jivetalk, where I can edit my away message on AIM) and yet not drain battery like crazy. Can anyone recommend any program?

I use nimbuzz on my touch pro to keep skype, yahoo, gtalk, and msn all in touch... no noticeable battery drain.

x2 - One thing I wish is that Palringo supported fast finger scrolling... the Beejive beta has that.
