Arcsoft MMS Working on My Touch Pro - 12/8/08
 

Ok... I think most people will agree that the stock Sprint picture mail app is somewhat lacking.

I was perusing Sprint Users and the Treo forums and found the claim that Arcsoft was working AGAIN! Previously being a Mogul owner, this piqued my interest.

I downloaded a CAB from Feb 2008 and tested.

So far it works! It sends picture mail and video mail flawlessly, like before Sprint screwed it up!

Only issue is when receiving mail it still goes through the Stock Sprint Picture Mail app.

Who wants to take this to the next level and tell me how to uninstall Sprint Picture Mail so I can test further...... or even better, our rom cooks.... who wants to create a rom with Arcsoft cooked in?

That is good news to hear...yea I used Arcsoft till Sprint put a stop and did some changes to make the software useless somewhere around the end of Jan08/Feb08...and that is when sMMS came through to replace Arcsoft for us Sprint users.

I dont know if I will go back to Arcsoft since now I use sMMS to send pics.

I used sMMs for a while, until you were forced to purchase it because it was crippled otherwise.

I would have gladly purchased it, but I was rubbed wrong when I had working features on some of the older releases, and when the distribution method changed they removed those features that made the software essentially crippled.

So hearing Arcsoft is working again is a welcome change.

I didnt think anyone tried the MMS when I said something over at SU. I prefer the old MMS. Its free, works better IMO, and is able to send videos. Guess I should update my phone here. Im using the MMS on my Touch Pro.

Yeah it works on my htc touch. I might stay with Sprint now because Iwas about to bounce. Mainly because of the mms issues and that garbage app they try to slide in recently. Smms is still tight though, but it haves to go through sprint picture mail and not the actual mms.

nice. one question, does it actually send the picture to your phone or do you have to click the link to view it on the site>?

No doubt. I dont really care for emailing pix and stuff. I like that you can attach audio to the pix you send and on regular phones it will play automatically when someone opens the pic message. Im a lil more happy and content thanks to the people here constantly working to better our phones. :drunken:

On the Touch Pro it is preloaded in Picture Mail so you just tap on it to view it. I dont know about other phones.

It sends the link to click to the sight. I don't have the sprint picture mail installed so that's not why. I don't know why it does that. I am hoping that when people send those pictures/gifs with sound that it will work correctly like I had a regular cel phone.
