Has anyone been able to get the Gmail App working on a Touch Pro?

I have a fully flashed sprint touch pro running on cricket. When ever I try to use the Gmail app it times out saying that it cannot find a data connection. It is almost as if the thing can not access the data connection. I did a search last night for this and could not find a solution.

I would use Gmail as a normal email account, but Cricket does not allow access to the imap/pop/smtp ports on their network. Any help is appreciated.

It's a java application, look in the touch pro essentials thread for the JAVA application to run the gmail app, works like a charm.

Man I hear about gmail not working everywhere, and that is understandable . If you wish to not have ay prob and you are satisfied with a POP account ,then set it up as POP. It is super fast without hick ups. Plus you won't need to install anything period

I use imap so I can see which email has already been read, but it works great in pOutlook, and even supports html.

Can not use pop or imap. Have cricket and they dont open those ports as far as I know.
